Jabroni
http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws There's a chance this could be Thomas' last year with the White Sox. He holds a $10 million player option for 2006, but even if he uses that particular option, the White Sox could still buy out Thomas for $3.5 million. The two sides also could come to a new contractual agreement, with the White Sox having a very strong working relationship with Tellem. The situation likely hinges on Thomas' performance in 2005, once he returns from the ankle rehabilitation.
YASNY
I think it's very simple. JR wants Frank to finish his career as a Sox. Frank wants to finish as a Sox. If they can come to an agreement financially, Frank will stay with the Sox.
rangercal
Frank is my all time favorite athlete. I hope he retires a sox. I also think it will help his case not hurt it for the HOF, staying on the same team nearly 20 years. southsider2k5
Boy someone needed a column by a deadline. That was the biggest piece of regurgitation yet. Not a new thought to be seen.
Harry Chappas
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 07:08 AM) Boy someone needed a column by a deadline. That was the biggest piece of regurgitation yet. Not a new thought to be seen. If you want to read a pretty good piece, I think this is the first time this guy has ever written anything worth reading. Look at Doug Padilla's write-up in the Times today. Not sure if this was his objective but it really shines a great light on Frank. Ole jay has got to be killing himself with no bad pub on this. Here is a nice window for positive PR from the Sox lets hope they don't screw it up. The note that Frank does not want to be associated with Sosa, McGwire and Canseco is priceless. JUGGERNAUT
Frank & JR are obviously very proud that Frank has been a member of the WhiteSox his entire career. They both want to keep it that way. JR I feel has been fair in balancing the needs of the team vs paying Frank good market value. The last contract gave Frank the flexibility to consider the decision each season. He received better offers but not so much better that it made sense to give up something he's really proud off. If Frank becomes the natural poster boy for MLB's anti-steroid face that's definitely going to boost Frank's spot. One thing that might come out of these hearings is MLB's agreement to air anti-steroid ads on TV networks. Who better to feature in those ads than Frank? That's going to boost his marquee status in the game & could open the way for bigger endorsements. This really is a pivotal time in Frank's career. One of the top 10 OPS players of all time, future HOFer, roids free for life, & loyal to his team throughout his career. Can you think of a better spokesperson for MLB's anti-steroid crusade? We'll know how much this means with the All-Star balloting. He's been beat out by east coast players in the supplemental voting the past couple of years. This could be the year he wins that vote. retro1983hat
How is it even remotely possible that there is all this whining about Ron Santo (Ronny Boo-Hoo) getting into the HOF? Just based on how these Cub fans cry about Santo and how he deserves to get in, means Frank should be an absolute lock based on his numbers. WilliamTell
They'll reach an agreement, like previously said, they both want him in a Sox uni.
