southsider2k5
QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) "They need to fix it.. or we will". They should. The anti-trust exemption they have from Congress is part of the problem.
Steff
Comparing it to NFL's policy now. MLB (players specifically, IMO) is being made to look like the assholes they are.
southsider2k5
QUOTE(Steff @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) Page 11 of the MLB penalties... "10 day suspension OR 10K fine" Sick. Or just 1/16th of the season. And the sad thing the policy that they agreed upon through collective bargining wouldn't have had any suspension until the 3rd offense. The first offense would have been cousiling and their name wouldn't have been made public.
YASNY
I can't see this "one standard" based on the Olympic policy ever happening.

rangercal
Missing 10 games in baseball would be equivalent to an nfl player missing 1 game. The NFL has 8 games (and it works) so it would make sense for baseball to have an 80 + suspension.

rangercal
Records should be taken away! Yesss that would be great. They gone! ....now about that 2000 MVP award......
Steff
QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) Missing 10 games in baseball would be equivalent to an nfl player missing 1 game. The NFL has 8 games (and it works) so it would make sense for baseball to have an 80 + suspension. IF it happened, that would be fine. But that's the point.. it's not mandatory that they are suspended and the "or" in there gives them the out that they can just be fined. And it's "up to" 10K.. meaning that the fine could literally only be $1.

They can't legislate per say, but that anti-trust exemption is the trump card. If baseball loses that they way they do business would have to change dramatically. greasywheels121
I like the idea Bunning said that they should just be kicked out on first offense. Who's going to risk losing the chance to continue making $12M a year?
YASNY
Bunning said something about a RH hitting 2B hitting 425 feet to RCF, but not naming names. I will ... Brett Boone.

He wants a 1 month suspention for 1st offense.. 1 year for second.. and OUT of baseball for 3rd.
