  1. 1. What should be done for Schiavo?

    • Pull - Remove the feeding tube which would result in starvation

    • Kill - Dying of starvation is a painful process. We can not rule out that Terri has active pain receptors still working in her brain.

    • Pump - Keep the feeding tube in place

Let's not forget that she is connected to a morphine IV to reduce the possibility of pain & suffering. I think that's provided her a little hydration & maybe why she's lasted this long.

Michael agrees to autopsy. This is no small deal. The fear was he would just cremate her & she would die with all these questions but Michael has agreed to have an autopsy done to show the extent of brain damage she suffered.

I do not know if they are going to do a full autopsy or just open up her skull. A full autopsy would go a long way to not only diminishing the possibility of a wrongful death suit but help all of us understand how this happened. Terri's death won't just stand as a reminder of why a living will is important. It can also be a symbol to the many millions of women out there struggling with anorexia & weight loss that drastic measures just aren't worth it.

Because she is so dehydrated is what I heard. But Saturday the husband ordered her to not receive Communion. Are you saying it was because the husband was concerned she couldn't swallow it?

I'm saying that I don't know. I just gave a hypothetical. The 24/7 live broadcast from the hospice by the media has made me so angry at it, I stay away from tv news at the moment. I see what I read, and given that my net access is at the moment limited to work, I'm not as well read as I oughta be.

The whole media frenzy has turned into a freak show. Reminds me of Natural Born Killers when they follow Juliette Lewis and Woody Harrelson around.

I have to admit that Jesse Jackson totally shocked me by not following the liberal throngs.  He actually has an occasional independant thought.  I'm thoroughly impressed.

I believe that is the *Reverend* Jesse Jackson and I know a lot of Dems that are behind the parents. Plus, I haven't seen too many major Dems exactly fighting for the husband. I still don't see this as a left v. right issue. The biggest right wing nut job Nuke didn't care one way or another. This progressive nut job is siding with Hannity. So go figure. I would have been shocked if Jackson had come out in favor of keeping the feeding tube out.

Nope. Just Jesse Jackson. Exactly the same as why I don't use "Reverend" Jerry Falwell. I have little or no respect for either man.

I was pointing out his title kindof puts him over there with the parents. I also think any attempts by the Dems to join the GOP on center stage would be seen as grandstanding and exploitation and bandwagon jumping.

I wish more from both parties would get on the "center" stage. Too many are on the far right stage, as well as the far left stage. I'm not just talking about this particular issue, either.

Minus ten points for quoting Rush. But nice ref anyways.

Plus ten for a Rush reference.

A modern-day warrior

Mean mean stride,

Today’s tom sawyer

Mean mean pride.

Though his mind is not for rent,

Don’t put him down as arrogant.

His reserve, a quiet defense,

Riding out the day’s events.

The river

And what you say about his company

Is what you say about society.

Catch the mist, catch the myth

Catch the mystery, catch the drift.

The world is, the world is,

Love and life are deep,

Maybe as his eyes are wide.

Today’s tom sawyer,

He gets high on you,

And the space he invades

He gets by on you.

No, his mind is not for rent

To any God or government.

Always hopeful, yet discontent,

He knows changes aren’t permanent,

But change is.

And what you say about his company

Is what you say about society.

Catch the witness, catch the wit,

Catch the spirit, catch the spit.

The world is, the world is,

Love and life are deep,

Maybe as his skies are wide.

Exit the warrior,

Today’s tom sawyer,

He gets high on you,

And the energy you trade,

He gets right on to the friction of the day.

Too Candian, you need to relax and travel a carefree highway

Pickin’ up the pieces of my sweet shattered dream

I wonder how the old folks are tonight

Her name was ann and I’ll be damned if I recall her face

She left me not knowin’ what to do

Carefree highway, let me slip away on you

Carefree highway, you seen better days

The mornin’ after blues from my head down to my shoes

Carefree highway, let me slip away

Slip away on you

:D
