Jabroni
While it isn't offical I believe Pablo has a huge lead over Valdez <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Agreed. Valdez doesn't have a prayer with the way Ozuna is hitting the ball. Edited March 28, 2005 by Jabroni
GoodAsGould
well Valdez does have a prayer since he was an Ozzie favorite back in florida and you got to believe Ozzie will get what Ozzie wants

jackie hayes
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 01:31 AM) well Valdez does have a prayer since he was an Ozzie favorite back in florida and you got to believe Ozzie will get what Ozzie wants Also, Valdez is out of options, if they liked Ozuna enough they may want him to play regularly, etc. Lots of things like this could play into the decision. Although I'd still be surprised if they kept Valdez. Only news to me -- Harris and Cotts as "sure bets".
Jabroni
Well the numbers speak for them selves Pablo: .522 AVG Valdez .194 AVG <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Also, Ozuna can field all the positions Valdez can and he can play the outfield as well. I don't think Valdez being out of options will play a role or is even an issue to Kenny and Ozzie. If another team claims him, so be it. If not, the Sox will sign him to a minor league deal and send him to Charlotte. Edited March 28, 2005 by Jabroni
GoodAsGould
your missing the point here, Ozuna while clearly is the favorite as of now isnt a sure thing like you make him out to be thats all that is needed to be said.

But a good bet isn't a sure bet -- unless you know a wart on someone's ass . At least that's how I took sf101's post.

southsider2k5
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) Vote Valdez for 25th Man!!! Not a chance. We have depth at all those positions, and Valdez hasn't really shown me much of anything when he was up in September and during March. We are fine with Ozuna and Harris as an emergency SS. JUGGERNAUT
backup C: Burke, Davis, Widger backup IF: Harris, Ozuna Who's earned it? J Burke .360 9/25 H/AB 3D B Davis .350 7/20 H/AB 2D 1T C Widger .267 8/30 H/AB 2D W Harris .195 11/41 H/AB 1D 1T P Ozuna .511 30/47 H/AB 4D 1T Before Thomas Bench: Gload, Harris, Davis, Ozuna, Burke After Thomas Bench: Everett, Gload, Harris, Davis, Ozuna Reasons: Harris is an important Defensive sub for Iggy, Uribe, & Rowand with great speed. Burke provides a solid RH bat that can sub for Crede, Koney, & AJP. Ozuna looks like a super sub for Crede, Uribe, & Iggy. Gload has proven himself as a solid sub for Koney & a solid LH bat. Davis is a speedy C who has had a good spring. There is no reason to add a 12th arm because of the long relief experience in the pen with Cotts & Hermanson. I'm thinkin Washington would be the most likely team to claim him, they are really desperate for a backup infielder who can play SS.
