danman31
QUOTE(bulokis @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) Where can I find some minor league scores and box scores? I saw the knights loss 11-10. Navigate through minorleaguebaseball.com. It's not as good of a setup as last year, but it's early and it looks like not all of the stuff is ready. However, if you go to the team page and click on league scores you can find a box score. Gio pitched 5 shutout innings with 8 Ks in a 4-0 Kanny win and Anderson HR'd in his first at bat for Charlotte. I'd post links, but I gotta go to bed. DBAHO
Here are the links, it's nice to have these threads again (the minorleaguebaseball site is really slow and choppy right now); Charlotte lost to Columbus 11-10. Adkins had a shocker giving up 7ER's. Anderson, Becker and Ben Davis all homered. Munoz gave up 3 ER in relief and Borch had 2 hits in the cleanup spot. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...colaaa_chraaa_1 Kanny beat 4-0 like Dan said. Gio with an excellent outing with 8 K's and no ER. Joshua Hansen homered for the Intimidators, Clint King DH'ed and went 1-4 with 2 K's and 1R. Adam Ricks went 0-4, and Francisco Hernandez went 0-4 with 2 K's. Jeffrey Little and Matthew Zaleski pitched scoreless innings of relief. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...ashafx_kanafx_1

Do you guys think if he pitches well Gio will be bumped up to High A early in the season.... i really want to see him in double A next year..... I know he is young but like to see players move up fast.
danman31
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) Do you guys think if he pitches well Gio will be bumped up to High A early in the season.... i really want to see him in double A next year..... I know he is young but like to see players move up fast. It's possible. I don't see him getting moved up any earlier than July though. He did get some innings in at Kanny last season so that helps a bit, but I still think that the Sox will take it slow with him because he is so young. I've read a few people that think he is an injury waiting to happen because he has been throwing breaking stuff for a while.
BHAMBARONS
Jacksonville 10 Barons 5 Jacksonville 10 11 2 Barons 5 7 1 W- Willie Juarez L- Corwin Malone Broxton 4 IP 3R 3H 1BB 3K's Tracey 4 IP 3R 3H 4BB 3K's Good- Blakely 3-run HR in the 4th, Feilds showing a good batting eye a walk getting hit by 2-0 pitch setting up the Blakely 3-run HR Josh also had a 2 run Double and made 2 great Beginings of DP's one 5-3 and a 5-4-3 DP. Andy Gonzalez 3-4 all 4 at bats Andy hit rockets and made an awsome Play in the hole at short. Finally Corwin Malone while the line score won't show it pitched very well with his curve being very effective getting a couple of K's. Bad- Pitching staff had 8 base on balls, Jenks came in with 2 malone runners on and promptly gave them up ruining what was a good outing by Corwin. Jenks also gave up 4 more runs after the 2 Malone runs. NOTES: I believe LA has found them there SS of the future in Joel Guzman I was real impressed with his power to all feilds he is the ripe ole age of 20. The only question about him is whether he'll eventually have to slide over to 3rd base. They gave him big bucks when he was 16 and for two years it seemed they regretted it, but last season he figured things out. Thanks for the writeups, definately appreciate them
Chisoxfn
The big thing with Gio is he puts a lot of stress on his arm, but the main reason there is so much concern is because he doesn't have a big body. We'll see, but I think he may just make his way up to Bham. Usually I wouldn't ever think a guy in high school last year would be capable of that jump, but he has such darn good command of his stuff. Gio has had a lot of work without the body makeup like Jason said. You can never be sure when pitchers are going to get hurt.
BHAMBARONS
Birmingham Barons @ Jacksonville Suns game #3 Derek Thompson (5-7, 3.72) vs Enemecio Pacheco (0-0, 3.55) These pitchers both had arm trouble last season. Baron's lit Thompson up to the tune 9 Earned in 1 1/3 innings last season. This is a big game for both these pitchers and the Barons a little more so becuase of the 2 losses to a divison foe. Availble Bullpen this game: Willie Glen Dwayne Pollok Ryan Meuax Corwin Malone
Chisoxfn
If Pacheco can get back to pitching like he did two years ago with the Barons then the Barons rotation will be that much better. Plus Pacheco has a heck of an arm. Two years ago he had a shot to emerge as one of the Sox best pitching prospects, but he definately regressed last year, thanks in part to injuries. BHAMBARONS
BARONS 4 Jacksonville 3 Barons 4 8 0 Jacksonville 3 7 0 W- Willie Glen 1-0 L- Beau Dannemiller 0-1 Pacheco 5 IP 4H 1R 2 BB 5K's Thompson 5 IP 6H 2 R 3 BB 9K's Good- Pacheco he had his old magic droping some nasty breaking pitches. Had several hitters knees buckling had a good back door slider K'ed Joel Guzman to finish Strikeing out the side in the third. Guillermo Reyes went from zero to hero after making an error (later called a hit) on a ball that allowed the tieing and go ahead runs to score, laced a 2 run 2 out single in the 9th to give Barons the lead for good. Josh Fields continued to impress having 2 opposite field singles. Blakely had 2 hard hit singles and 2 Outfield Assists (one to nail a runner at the plate). Andy Gonzalez made a heck of a play on a smash to Short Gonzo made a bare handed throw to force the runner at third to get out of a mess in the First. Ryan Sweeney made a fantasic diving catch and Started the rally with a four pitch walk. Wille Glenn Pitched well out of the pen retiring the first 7. Jenks after a awful outing last night came back and went 1-2-3 in the 9th including a strike out of Delwyn Young with a 98 MPH Fastball. Bad- The Strike Outs continue to mount that is 36 after 3 games. Jerry Owens in 2 on 0 out in the 9th Failed to get a bunt down. Chris young continues to struggle. Notes: Dannemiller did the Carndinal sin of closers which struck Rivera this week. Walking the leadoff hitter which got the rally started without the walk Blakely grounds out harmless to first and the rally never happens. Razor Shines had many arguments with Plate Umpire Jason Dunn who made some very questionable calls including a check swing strike on Andy Gonzalez which nearly ended the rally. The inning before he made a questionable call on a ball hit down the LF line that allowed the go ahead run to score. Razor will always with out throwing a fit will defend his players and I appuald him. Great win tonight for the Barons
CWSGuy406
Is Young being rushed a little bit? I know he walks a lot, but I would have liked to see more strike zone control as far as less K's at Salem, but maybe that's just a petty concern... danman31
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) Is Young being rushed a little bit? I know he walks a lot, but I would have liked to see more strike zone control as far as less K's at Salem, but maybe that's just a petty concern... He wasn't at Winston-Salem, he was at Kannapolis. That's what worries me personally. It's not like he is going to hit for a high average though.
