With JR..... don't be so sure. He'll be on his way back if his price is right.

Actually no. LOL. I thought we were getting the better end of the deal and was jacked about the prospect of what could have been after the 2000 season. And 2001, as we all know, was a HUGE letdown

I always remember him mentioning after the trade he wouldn't mind coming back here when his contract was up and that he said he never had a problem with Reinsdorf.

By the way, it was a good trade, it didn't pan out, but the thought and concept of the trade was good.

Isn't it amazing how some careers end so quickly?

Sirotka may never be on a team again, may never be interviewed again, may never be "bothered" by fans again.

I don't know if he was a jerk or not, but it's amazing how quckly guys come in and fade away.

It amazes me how baseball teams have paid pitchers multi year contracts for so many years when the arm can go at any time.

It's probably the only philosophy Reinsdork has I agree with in THEORY. Now when every other good team is paying multi years and we aren't, we lose in the deal, but in theory I think JR is right on that one.

That said, give Mark B. a hefty RAISE!

I'm with you on that. I think its just so risky paying a pitcher so much over the long haul cause they are so succeptible for injuries, but its also something that just has to be done to compete.

Of course I think those times are changing now because I no longer think we will see guys like Sterling Hithcock making something like 7 million a year.
