LowerCaseRepublican
http://www.local10.com/entertainment/4371684/detail.html Far be it from me to take delight in the death of a fellow human but given that someone is probably going to die everyday it may as well have been this vitriolic shrew. It is supremely ironic that this raging harridan of anti-pornography should be the poster girl for those who might wish to explain the need for pictures of pretty women. I mean, human reproduction might cease completely if men were confronted regularly with images of this, uhhh, woman. Or did the news service accidentally put a picture of Sam Kinnison in her place. No, that would be an insult to Sam---he was better looking than this.

LowerCaseRepublican
QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) I don't know much about her...but I know I don't like fat chicks and I love pornography! So f*** her! She was a famous (or should that be infamous?) feminist who gained a lot of notoriety saying that most sex is rape etc. etc. Here are a few of her quotes Sex - "No woman needs intercourse; few women escape it." Marriage - "Marriage as an institution developed from rape as a practice. Rape, originally defined as abduction, became marriage by capture. Marriage meant the taking was to extend in time, to be not only use of but possession of, or ownership." Seduction - "Seduction is often difficult to distinguish from rape. In seduction, the rapist often bothers to buy a bottle of wine."

Queen Prawn
I never read about this woman until her death. Fact is that some of what she says (from articles that I have read since her passing) have kernals of truth. Regardless, must we be so disrespectful to someone that has just died? How would you like it if a parent or a sibling died and then someone who didn't like what the deceased person dedicated their life to and went on a rant about that deceased family member being a "fat b****" or a "fat bastard" or a "total idiot?" I can understand disagreeing with her work, but can it be constructive criticsm (why you think she is off her rocker) rather than name calling? Insinuating that men rape women in marriage and her pseudo-science regarding pornography (which has been discredited by most actual research on the subject) -- she deserves a bit of fair play in receiving some of the vitriol she's spewed throughout the years. Insinuating that men rape women in marriage Just to clarify--there is such a crime as marital rape. Not necessarily in the sense that Dworkin means, though. Also, I would say that Dworkin is a main reason that feminism today has a bad rap. She was an interesting thinker, but not my cup o' tea.... Oh, and Dworkin was married, iirc.... tonyho7476
alive or dead, an asshole is an asshole. I'm not going to show up at her funeral and rail her. That would certainly be disrespectful. I'm not saying anything bad about her. I think Feminism is alright aslong as it doesn't get out of control. I'm just saying that she probably offended men about what she said, so obviously some men aren't going to say very nice things about her.
