qwerty
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 09:35 PM) Where is Red&White when you need him.......... :rolly Nice, thinking the same exact f***ing thing. If this was reversed and a yankee fan did this we would not hear the end about it.
SleepyWhiteSox
QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 09:26 PM) I just saw it, didn't look to bad, but come on now. It doesn't matter. I agree with Harold Reynolds...the security guard did his job, and I give him a big thumbs up...he sprinted his ass over there, way to go Mr. Security Guard. I agree. He literally ran out and jumped into the stands before it escalated. Very rarely does a security guard look like he's doing his job...detroit-pacers, for example... LosMediasBlancas
It's what I've always said about Red Sox and Cub fans, they think THEY are the story. They think somehow THEY are bigger than the game. The press has romanticized being a member of those fan bases so much, that the fans feel like they have to perform when the cameras are around. The other day at Wrigley in that extra inning game against Milwaukee, there they were, praying and falling down on top of the dugout, hamming it up for the cameras. Puh-leez gimme a break, it's the 1st week of the season. Same thing tonight, Red Sox fans looking for camera time.

witesoxfan
QUOTE(Spiff @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 09:53 PM) A little roid rage for Sheff. That's what I said watching it too I was almost sure he was going to throw a punch Given, I think the fan is at fault here...but that was exactly what I said. Steff
I still haven't seen this but from what I hear Shef didn't do anything wrong. One hysterical thing from this.. Mike & Mike have a bit of Terry F saying "I don't know" 5 times in response to his thoughts on it and they keep replaying it over and over again.. Dick Allen
I saw it a few times and my impression was the guy didn't intentionally hit Sheffield but Sheffield did get hit and since he was concentrating on the ball really couldn't be aware that it wasn't intentional. I think security did a good job and Sheffield was able to control his emotions enough where nothing bad really happened.
bjm676
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) greasy, don't forget about all the s*** that goes on in Oakland...especially the guy who threw a f***in cherry bomb during a game once. Didn't Carl Everett get a cell phone thrown at him in Oakland? I forget what team he was with back then.
southsider2k5
QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) Didn't Carl Everett get a cell phone thrown at him in Oakland? I forget what team he was with back then. I know it was in Oakland as a visitor. He must have been with Texas at the time
DonkeyKongerko
I always wondered if the person threw his own cell phone. There are so many reasons not to throw your cell phone at someone I can't even begin to list them.
Spiff
http://www.bostondirtdogs.com is all over this guy: This is what happens when Red Sox Nation "cardholders," who don't know enough to keep their hands in the stands, go to games instead of real baseball fans, who can't get tickets to Fenway anymore. Sheff should have clocked the assclown who, even if Sox fanboys and girls blindly give the punk the benefit of the doubt, was trying to turn Tek's triple into a double at best. Inexcusable. Ban him from Fenway for two years.
easyw
Just a few hours before this happened, Jimmy Piersall was discussing fan violence with Mike Murphy on The Score... More here: http://southsideadventures.blogspot.com/
AssHatSoxFan
a quote from an article i read: "[sheffield] got all steroid-ish and punched him with the glove," said 16-year-old Rachel Amaral. "All he [the fan] was doing was reaching down to catch the ball." rofl at this chick...reaching down to catch the ball? i mean come on the ball was in play i'm sure he has a right to just get in the way
southsider2k5
The ticketholder lost his tickets for at least 2005. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2040064
