DonkeyKongerko
Gload was only solid with the longest hitting streak in the majors at the end of last season. It just seems like he can't get himself any playing time with his Everett-esque defense in the outfield. I think he's a perfect DH to spell Everett if he's not 100% and would do fine if he got regular at bats every other night.
NUKE_CLEVELAND
QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 10:59 PM) Gload? Or did you mean borchard the whole time? It was Gload at first then Borchard got dragged into the equation.
Jabroni
"Everett leaves after hitting wall DH/OF hurt while trying to track down Broussard drive" As for Everett? He had the chance to meet the left-field wall at Jacobs Field in a little more up close and personal manner. As a result of the hard-charging collision, Everett suffered a bruised left shoulder blade and is listed as day to day. After the game, Everett also confirmed that his head banged against the wall just after his shoulder hit. That part of the crash left Everett with very little recollection as to what took place. "I think it knocked me out a little bit," Everett said. "I don't remember (center fielder Aaron Rowand) picking up the ball. I saw the ball rolling off and next thing you know, I saw Row asking me if I was okay. "So, I had a little dizziness. I think I took my hat off and started scratching my head. I don't remember too much. But I think I did that. It didn't feel too good." Everett plans to arrive early Friday for treatment and to see if he's able to swing a bat. Guillen believes Everett will miss Friday's contest and then be re-evaluated on Saturday afternoon. "It's a day by day thing," Guillen said of Everett. "Hermie told me he's going to lose tomorrow, but it's not bone. It's a muscle bruise. Hopefully, he will be ready soon." If the pain continues for Everett, he believes the team will X-ray the bruised area. But otherwise, Everett proclaimed himself OK. In fact, Everett joked more about how to improve his defense in left, then fix his bruised shoulder after the fact. Guillen spoke before the game of how Everett earned his confidence defensively with stellar play during Spring Training. The play that caused his injury Thursday was more a testament to Everett's all-out approach, as opposed to his lack of recent outfield experience. "Just do some wall drills, find the fence," said Everett with a laugh when talking about what might have helped him Thursday. "I hit it hard, and it's sore. "But the way it feels now, the way the pain has moved through, and it's more muscular. ... If it's in my muscle, I will play." beck72
If Carl is out for a bit, PK should DH, like he did last yr for Sept. Gload is the better glove at 1b.
rangercal
Im thinking it may be too much of an injury risk from now on to play carl in the outfield.

Steff
QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 11:11 PM) I think I'd rather see Brian Anderson up here if it came down to it. Let Borchard raise his trade value in the minors so we can package him and Crede for a real 3rd baseman at the trading deadline. I'd rather see Ted's head up to bat.. chisoxfan14
or how about we play willie harris more!!!
Chisoxfn
Willie has looked very sharp in limited at bats. With Pods down I woudln't be opposed to DH'ing Willie and putting him atop the lineup. Hell play Willie in left for all I care. I'm a big Gload fan but right now he just doesn't look right at the plate. Of course its going to be hard for him to get it straightened out on the bench. I do know one thing, the Sox still have some options if Carl is down and playing Gload as a DH would definately work plus I do love the idea of having Aaron up in the lineup. I'd also move Pyrz ahead of Dye and then have Gload behind Dye. But Ozzie wouldn't do that, his lineup ideas when he's playing his bench players are just foolish.
