southsider2k5
We were actually recently approached by some Mariner's fans from another board, who were interested in making contact during their visit to Chicago. We kicked aroud some ideas and came up with this place as an experiment to see how it would work out. This place is for visiting fans of other teams to stop by and talk baseball while their team is playing the Sox, or to talk about trades, or anything related to baseball in general. This area will give us the option of talking to visiting fans, or if posters don't have any interest, they can just stick to Pale Hose Talk, and be around their bretheran Sox fans. This forum will be decently moderated, as we don't want to have an MLB/ESPN type board, and if that happens we will pull the plug on this board. We will also not allow visiting fans to abuse any of our members or rules, or they will not be allowed to stick around. And after that intro, we welcome in the Seattle Mariners and their visiting fans from SportSpot.net. If people have questions or comments, please feel free to PM me or post them. southsider2k5
QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) This going to turn into a smack talking, s*** slinging spot?? This is strictly a test. If this forum turns into a pissing contest, we won't keep it. That being said, we are hoping to have some contacts with other Soxtalk type boards, so that we can get some good discussions going on. It would be cool if we can broaden things by having some other viewpoints, without HAVING to be involved in them. That is why we created this board, so that if people don't want to chat, they don't have to even know it is going on.

Texsox
I would guess this will be the tightest moderated place at soxtalk, from both sides. To make this work, we have to respect the fans from the other teams. We all know that, for example, if we were born in St. Louis we would probably still hate the Cubs, but be wearing Cardinal red. Of course if we were born in New York, we are probably twisted enough to be Mets fans I wouldn't mind getting a fans perspective on what their team is doing, the highs and lows and hearing what they think of the White Sox. I'm glad we didn't think of this a couple weeks ago, no one would believe it

Tannerfan
Okay I have a question for Seattle fans. Ozzie, our beloved manager, recently said to some reporters that none of our pitchers wanted to pitch to Olivo last year, that they all wanted to work with Alomar. Is there something wrong with Olivo that we did'nt know about? His rep is that he was a top young catcher with a bright future. Is that how Mariner fans feel about him or are they dissapointed? marinergeek
QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 10:02 AM) This going to turn into a smack talking, s*** slinging spot?? As southsider said, this is experimental. The idea was brought up by one of the Mods at the SportSpot.net Mariners forum. We're just trying to expand the fun to conversation with other baseball fans. You guys seemed like a good place to try this out since your forum is an Invision forum same as ours, so everyone will be real familiar with the interface. Our intent is not to come over and troll your board, rather to have some friendly fun and conversations with you guys when our teams meet up during the season. I will be making a post in our game thread, directing our members here along with a plea to keep conversation friendly. I would also like to invite SoxTalk members to pay us a visit sometime during the three game series. I won't be designating a special area for this. I'm hoping you guys will just comment in any topics you feel you have relevant input. We'd especially like to get some of your comments in our Game Day threads. As SouthSider said, we will be moderating conversations a little closer than usual. No trolling please. MarinerGeek SportSpot.net Mariners Forum P.S. Good luck in the series...but not too much luck. southsider2k5
QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Where do they post, in this thread? or another? We set this area up just for visitors. That way the people who want a strictly Sox experience can still do their thing, and the people who want to feel out other fans, have that chance as well. And also as we identify solid, soxtalk-like boards, we can bring other fans over here to break up the monotony of Joe Credocre/WillieMVP type threads. Soxtalk is still by Sox fans for Sox fans, but this little area of it could be a cool way to expand some minds for those who are willing and able. Is there something wrong with Olivo that we did'nt know about? His rep is that he was a top young catcher with a bright future. Is that how Mariner fans feel about him or are they dissapointed? Well, last year Olivo leaked like a sieve when it came to balls in the dirt, balls to the left, right, high - and generall NOT thrown into his glove (and sometimes, he'd drop those). He spent nearly a month over the winter with a defensive specialist, and this year, he has caught even the picky Jamie Moyer with some high praise on the improvement in both his backstop abilities, and game-calling. Since Sportspot is pretty strictly moderated, I don't think you should excpect too much in the way of brawling. We even get the Beetle Baily treatment for swearing... Of course, let's see here... :puke Edited April 15, 2005 by IgnatiusReillyTheThird
