Bighurt52235
I'm actually starting to get worried, not about the Twins, but about the Royals! I can't believe I'm saying that! I'm starting to fear that they'll never come down to earth, and they'll take the AL Central. This is a premature thought, but I cannot supress these feelings I'm experiencing. Chicagoislife_2003
If they're in 1st place a month from now I might get worried. I just can't see this team with the talent they have sustaining this play too much longer....
Mathew
The person who brought up the 11-1 Indians last year made a good point. The Royals aren't there yet but better than we all expected no doubt.

They don't have the depth to sustain this over a full season, but some of their pitchers are fantastic and think they are doing this without Beltran. cwsox
i'm worried about the Royals - I'll be happy when they fold - right now they are motivated beyond anything purely baseball - the attacks have taken it deeper than that - my worry for is their motivation might carry their talent beyond its limits
1549
I am a little worried, mostly because their pitchers aren't flukes...they have real talent in their arms. Yet, the depth isn't their, and they don't have the luxury of making blockbuster deals. When the White Sox broke out in 2000 they obviously had a lineup that could smack around any pitcher, and the twins when they broke out had a superb bullpen solid starters and some pop in their bats. The royals though, a couple starters that really have a chance to be good, 1 or 2 pitchers that could be decent out of the pen and 2 or 3 solid hitters...not enough to contend through July
baggio202
as long as they are ahead of us im worried...in '00 all we heard all year long was this will be the week we start to fold....okay then this will be the week...no , really now this is the week..never happened... not saying they will pull off a '00 chisox...but its just as possible it could happen as it is them folding up...if they are ahead of us i nthe standings...then ill be worried until we pass them... losing twice to them in their last at bat and its only april 16th hasnt help quench my fear either...how reminiscent on '00 is that??? IlliniKrush
I probably should be worried, but i'm not...i just don't see enough talent there to keep this up, but we'll see. It's stil way way way early.
CubKilla
Regardless of how you feel, right now the Royals are the team to beat. But I'd also tell you you're crazy if you think the Royals will win 9 out of every 10 games they play for the rest of the season. That won't happen. But I do not think this team will fold like the '02 Indians either. If the White Sox show any indication of playing the way we think they can play, '03 will be a 3-way dance between them, us, and Minnesota. DonkeyKongerko
I'm worried because they are helping us dig a really deep hole in the AL Central to bury us in. I mean KC is supposed to be part of the AL Central pushovers that can boost our standings in a divison or wildcard race. Losing to them this much is unacceptable. DonkeyKongerko
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but aren't the Royals 11-1? Yeah, the only difference is 4 of those wins were against us already. The Indians couldn't lay claim to that.

The Indians couldn't lay claim to that. That's true. But let's stay true to form, and kick the s*** out of them tonight, and tomorrow....and hopefully, that will start a bigass sprial downward. That won't happen, IMO. The Royals are a decent team. 80 wins is a possibility.
Bighurt52235
80 wins is a possibilty? That's a huge under statement, don't you think?
witesoxfan
80 wins is a possibilty? That's a huge under statement, don't you think? No....they don't have the depth pitching wise. Affeldt, Hernandez, Ascensio....etc....basically their entire starting rotation....are in their first full year as a starter. Their whole bullpen is made up of journeymen and rookies.....and their offense right now is very misleading to what it normally would be. Everyone in their lineup seems to be killing the ball. That won't continue. Teams have hot streaks....hell, the A's won 20 in a row last year....they went on to bigger and better things....bad example. I remember like in 1999 the Padres won 13 in a row. They finished near last place that year. Hell, last year, the Royals won 9 in a row....and they still lost 100 games. That Royals team was pretty much the same thing as this Royals team, only they had Paul Byrd, who pitched out of his friggin mind last year....Runelyvis Hernandez anyone? They will cool off....and if they got 80 wins, that'd be f***ing incredible. Improving by 18-20 games is a huge step up. That many wins gets them respectability....something a lot of teams do not have....ie, Tigers, DRays, Brewers....etc etc etc. Getting out of that group is the first step....and getting into contention is the other. Look at what the Twins did in 2001 and 2002....that's how you do it. It's our turn to win the division this year though.
1549
The difference maker in the Royals rotation is Asensio...Hernandez is going to be a good pitcher, Affeldt should be pretty good, but Asensio is a wild-card. Could be great, or if he cant control the ball (like his debut vs the sox last year, 16pitches 16balls) then he will be nothing. If he turns out to be good though, the Royals could be trouble in the future, when they get some young talent that hits
