Britney's Baby Scare

BRITNEY Spears has endured a heartbreaking baby scare.

The four months pregnant popstar was rushed to a Florida hospital after suffering severe bleeding.

The 23-year-old was seen entering the hospital with her jeans covered in blood, prompting fears she was about to lose her unborn daughter.

US magazines were reporting Spears was "crying and pale" as she entered the emergency ward of the Sacred Heart Hospital in Destin, Florida with her husband Kevin Federline and a bodyguard.

"She looked terrible," an onlooker said. "She was pale and her hair was a mess - she had clearly been crying.

"She was wearing a baggy T-shirt and jeans but there was enough blood to soak through the clothes.

"She was in a terrible amount of distress and her husband was at her side as a doctor and nurse went with her."

After a quick examination Spears was transferred to the Fort Walton Medical Center where she checked in under the name Madison Lea.

Doctors there found a premature separation of her placenta from her uterus but determined there was no danger to her baby.

Spears was discharged from the hospital after two days of observation.

News of the drama last weekend resulted in Spears announcing she was pregnant, after months of speculation.

But in the lead up to last week's announcement, rumours were rife that Spears and Federline were about to break up and their life-and-death hospital dash occurred during a holiday aimed at saving their marriage.

Last week a Spears spokesperson confirmed they had gone away to "sort out their personal problems", heading to a condominium Spears owns at Destin, Florida.
