Albert Pujols $11,000,000

Mike Sweeney $11,000,000

Having those two names right next to each other reminded me even more how much the Cardinals have Pujols for a friggin' amazing rate. $11million for arguably the best hitter in baseball and a servicable 1st baseman? That's unbelieveable. I mean you could say you could have 2 Pujols's and 3mil to spare for one Arod...but that's stretching it since Arod is such an outlier contract. Either way, Pujols at 11million? Sick.

I remember when he signed that contract. I was also amazed how low he signed for according to the market.

I agree, except to say that I think Pujols is already better than servicable. I'd say he's good and going to get better. Maybe not Gold Glove, but he'll be close.

But he could be less than servicable defensively and still be worth the money ( if anyone truly can be worth that money to play a game, but that's another conversation... :D )

In contrast to the rest of the top 30 Ichiro is a steal.

Vladdy and Albert Pujols are right next to Ichiro. All I can say is damn do some teams overpay.

On a side note, how much do we actually pay for Contreras?

Don't take me to the bank on this, but I believe the Yankees are only picking up another $2 mill of Contreras's contract, which comes this year...so that would lead me to believe that he is being paid $6.5 mill by the Sox, which is outlandish for a good #5 starter.
