SoxFan1
Maggs has 3 steals, Jimenez has 1. That is all the steals for the Sox this season. We have started to play small ball a little bit better. Olivo laid down a BEAUTIFUL bunt last night. Grimsley threw it away and the runners advanced. Tony G tagging on the play was great. He noticed that Tucker was not in position to throw and he tagged and qon it for us! this is gonna get us back on track. Keep it up guys! It was obvious he was completely concentrating. The pop up to end the game was intense. With the 20+ mph winds the ball carried at least 30 feet (our seats are in 107 row 1 so I get a clear shot of home from right behind the right fielder). It was like slow motion watching him go for it. We were all screaming at Tony to run.

IlliniKrush
The first thought that crossed my mind when i read this topic was "how can it get any worse" The lack of steals is definitely a concern. The top of the order not being able to steal a base is a definite negative. By the way, what the hell happened to CLee being able to steal 15 bases or so? Definitely a heads up play by Graff last night on the tag up
clujer420
By the way, what the hell happened to CLee being able to steal 15 bases or so? It's tough to steal 15 when you're hitting .174 and have an OBP of .255.
SoxFan1
Yes, It was heads up by Tony g. But, the small ball is getting better for us. C-Lee really never had potential to steal 15 cuz he rarely ever gets on base, how is he gonna steal a base! The top of the order is not getting steals because they are hitting, doubles, triples, and homers. You cant steal if they are run producing like that! DJ and Jose are doing fine in my book! Regardless 2000 - 13 swipes 2001- 17 swipes 2002 - 1 friggin swipe, and he batted .264, .005 below 2001's average That's my point

Just the other day I was saying that the Sox need to start running more, and Carlos is one of the guys that I mentioned by name. The 3-run HR's aren't coming with the cold air, so we need to manufacture some runs until the ball starts to carry some more.
SoxFan1
Basically, if your not getting on base, you cant steal!

(FYI, 2002 was last season. We're in 2003 at the moment) Glad to see I'm not the only one making silly mistakes.

IlliniKrush
Ya, so he attempted i think 24 steals in 2001 and was successful on 17...then in 2002 5 steal attempts, succesfful on one? That's a pretty big disparity
