Hey if a mod is readin this you should change the name to rookie of the year thread because it was hijacked

lol

Yes, I do think it's worth discussing because Ben has a legitimate chance.

I just think he's disappeared in games too often while Okafor has maintained his solid, although not flashy, numbers. You know what to expect from him in terms of points, blocks, and rebounds almost every night.

Based on what he has done in the 4th quarter on a playoff  team, yes I think he will win.  Im not alone hear. I've read plenty of articles (recent ones  too) with predictions of Ben winning it.

Where is he the other three quarters? Picking up fouls and sitting on the bench? I don't care at this point honestly. I am gonna start the new bulls game thread now.

Look at his field goal percentage the last month and a half. Whe gordon cannot shoot at a high percentage what is he good for? Honestly. I can't believe it is really a question at this point who should win it.

You are gonna be disappointed if you really think he is gonna win it.

32,000 fans voted emeka is up 46.8% to Bens 46.7 %

Ben Has a very good chance. You better believe it or you will be disappointed.

If you're going to say emeka wins it, fine. But to think Ben does not have a chance is just foolish. It will be a close race.

Steve Kerr:(yahoo sports)

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

East: Ben Gordon. There are two reasons why he wins the award over fellow UConn alum Emeka Okafor. One is that his play helped the Bulls back into the playoffs for the first time since 1998. The other is that he led all NBA players in fourth-quarter scoring. He's a modern-day Andrew Toney – a compact two guard with strength, ball-handling skills, shooting touch and an assassin's mentality.

no love for Howard. averaging double double. 3 or 4 20 rebound games. i think it should go okafor/howard then gordon. gordon's stats other than points are far from desirable. okafor is the main player on the bobcats so he probably is more of an option than howard is on the magic. it should be close between howard and okafor but ben should be a distant 3rd. just my opinion.

Howard and Okafor get the nod over Gordon by me. However being that the two are big men they could split some of the vote with Gordon getting in. The thing is Howard and Okafor are essentially clones so you may have some people giving Howard the nod, others Okafor. Those will be the ones that give it to a guy that plays defense, gets boards, is on the court more, etc.

Gordon will get all the votes for people that look at him leading the team to the playoffs, etc

Who would I vote for...Howard, maybe Okafor, but it sure as hell wouldn't be Gordon. Gordon is 6th man of the year though, imo.

I guarantee Howard Will not get 2nd like you seem to think.  It is between Emeka and Ben. End of story. (and it will be a close vote)

I think it will be emeka, gordon, howard. I think it should be emeka, howard, gordon.

Ask, and you shall receive.

lol

But yeah, there's no need to discount Gordon. He's been doing what SUPERSTARS have not been able to do this season as far as his fourth quarter heroics. That's obviously huge, and the Bulls don't have the THIRD best record in the East without him.

Although I still think it's Okafor, I will be very happy to see Ben get it.

Maybe Howard develops into a future NBA star, but there's no way he's better than Ben this year...

He's practically invisible behind Franchise and Grant Hill (drinks sprite), while Ben shines in the clutch. That counts for a lot.

If I was voting based on stats ONLY , then yes I would vote emeka. But Ben has done amazing things in his first year. He has carried us on his back in nearly half our wins. How could that not be looked at? :huh

Like I said, I think it's fairly even. Okafor also plays better D and I would (obviously) imagine he turns the ball over less.

I agree that his clutch performances are amazing.

Should be close. I hope Ben does win it and I will be very happy, but I won't be pissed if he doesn't. 6th man is his anyways...

I just got back from the game. What a great time. The atmosphere was amazing. Home court, baby! And Ben IS the ROY AND the 6th man. Skiles is also Coach of the Year. Did that last shot remind any of you of Michael Jordan's last shot?

Ben has plenty more winning shots coming up in his career. The man is clutch!
