T R U
QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 08:05 AM) Finally, the unacceptable practice of throwing the opposing team's home run balls back. Undoubtably started by one of the CUBS SUCK chanting cheeba monkeys, this is a WRIGLEY FIELD TRADITION, so if you really consider yourself a Sox fan, keep the ball if you're lucky to grab one. Or, give it to the nearest youngster-- you'll make his year. Or, take the ball and throw it at the nearest jagoff chanting "Cubs Suck" during the late innings of a tie ballgame between the SOX and OUR biggest rival over the last 3-4 years. Throwing the other teams home run ball back is the greatest thing ever, and I wish more people would do it... thats awesome

quickman
QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:08 PM) SECURITY! SECURITY! MORE!!! SECURITY!! I brought a Chicago sports fan with me to opening day. He had a blast. He had so much fun he bought tickets for Monday night's game for him and his family. Well, he called me after the game to celebrate the victory with me. Although he really enjoyed the game, the Sox organization should really take note of his comments. He said he was in section 113. In section 111 there was a fight that somebody's nose got busted and was bleeding everywhere. He said "don't take this wrong, because I'm a Sox fan now too, but I can see why there is a stereotype about drunk violent Sox fans." He realized that fights happen everywhere there is alcohol, he wondered where the hell was securtity and why did it take 5 minutes to get there? He also said that he doesn't think his wife will go again and he probably won't bring his daughter anymore. With all of the problems over the years, to not have tight security during 1/2 price drunk fest is unacceptable. My advice, NO MORE 1/2 price nights unless they are upper deck. Also, MORE SECURITY!!!! I'm bringing my wife to tonight's game tonight. I hope the violent drunks limit themselves to the upper deck. In fact, I love baseball. I'd be happy if they quit selling alcohol all together. Someone please post some e-mail addresses for people in the Sox organization so that I can write them. Sorry about the rant. I know one guy in all of Rockford who I've finally shown that the Sox are a better team. I've conviced him that the negative Sox stuff is Cubune perpetuated crap and now this bulls*** happens. I have been saying this for years, eliminate half price night and you eliminate the rif raff. I have been countered by the vast number of students on this board who have no money. I say tough s*** and watch it on TV, get money from Daddy or wait until steff gives you her tickets. By the way I will not go on Mondays. I literally hate the scene. LosMediasBlancas
QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) I don't recall there being any "restrictions" last year. IIRC, in the outfield they didn't have vendors walking up and down the aisles and they limited you to 1 beer per person, per trip at the beer stands out there. Steff
QUOTE(southsider17 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) I have to drive. I don't have to go to Monday night baseball games. I've got 6 other days to choose from. Yes.. I know. You also have to pay full price the other 6 days. I assume the main draw to Monday is to be cost effective to the families check book (If I didn't have season tickets it would probably be an issue for me so I understand that totally). I just don't think that the bad outweighs the good in terms of those attending on Monday nights. As a matter of fact.. that quickman isn't there makes the place 150% more enjoyable.. Lord.. I loooooove picking on you Q..

Yep, there were vendors and unlimited sales for every other night, except for Mon. & Tues. nights after a few 'incidents' last year. It made a big difference. They would never want a ball hit by an opposing team. Not a 5 year old. Thats a bad ball. Its cursed, and its really neat to throw it back, look everyone I am really cool cause I threw it back rather than give it to a kid who might really like it. I can do what I want with it, and throw it back I shall <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What's the point, why throw it back? I saw a teenager throw a ball back from the bleachers and get escorted out. The moron was arguing with security and the security guard said "you're not supposed to throw anything on the field." That teenager didn't think he was quite so cool when he was being ejected.
