Reddy
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) Who pissed in your cheerios? Every post you made was negative towards someone else. In case you missed it, the Sox have the best record in all of baseball right now, and I don't see the reason for people not to enjoy it while it lasts. Now you can go back to your puppy kicking. what? he said to call jostens... they make rings... aka world series ring... wow
greasywheels121
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 10:19 AM) "Coming up next on sportcenter why our experts say teh white sox won't make the playoffs this year." This should be interesting. Fine by me. I'm sure they haven't lost it yet, but this keeps that chip on the players' shoulder.

Rowand44
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) Fine by me. I'm sure they haven't lost it yet, but this keeps that chip on the players' shoulder. No doubt. Brantley says the sox have bullpen issues that will show up later in the season :rolly EDIT: I could care less what these guys have to say but imo the bullpen is the strongest area on the team and he thinks it's a weak spot, yeah he's an idiot. Brantley says the sox have bullpen issues that will show up later in the season :rolly And I think he's looney as can be. The Sox bullpen is set up for the long haul. We 4 or 5 guys that can close. You can't get much better than that in the bullpen.

Well we do, and they may show up later, or sooner, or not at all. Or we may trade to rectify them. At this point I have concerns with our BP and also Ozzie's handling of it but I'm willing to ride it out for a while to see how things shape up. I surely wouldn't call someone an idiot for questioning it just like I wouldn't call someone an idiot for calling it the strongest area on the team. Btw, IMO in the long run the teams dreadful OBP and hitting with RISP will cost far more than the BP.

Uh, just because I'm not prostrating myself before the groin does not mean I don't think this is going to be a special year. I very much like the team overall, especially the pitching. I was not being sarcastic, I like the trend. So you can drink a cup of shut the hell up now.

LosMediasBlancas
QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 03:08 AM) The white sox game was the 1st baseball story on sportscenter tonight. That should please some of you. ...and that's really how it should be. The Sox aren't the only team to get punked by ESPN. We just notice it more beacuse we're Sox fans. JUGGERNAUT
I wish they had a call-in segment because I would have given them something to chew on. We are on pace for 18 wins in April. If the next 5 months prove to be nothing more than 2004-esque we still finish with 88 wins. Looking at the standings in the ALE, & ALW that looks to be wild-card territory this year. So Brantley's an idiot. Now who really thinks this team will play no better than the 2004 team the next 5 months? I sure & hell don't. We'll get a fired up, hungrier than ever Thomas back in late May. Even if the pitching falls back to Earth if Thomas can play those 5 months that alone will make us better than the 2004 team. That alone is worth 5 wins more than the 2004 pace. That puts us at 93 wins. Now we're likely to win the division. You can't win a division in April but you can jump ahead of the pack to where injuries are the only thing that can keep you from winning. Eighteen wins in April will put us there. DBAHO
QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 01:24 AM) And I think he's looney as can be. The Sox bullpen is set up for the long haul. We 4 or 5 guys that can close. You can't get much better than that in the bullpen. Agreed and there's a lot of room for improvement still. Cotts is trying to work things out, and his outing in Detroit after Garland's great game was promising. Vizcaino hasn't really hit his stride yet but has looked very good in patches, while Shingo's early problems have been well documented, his last outing was also good. One guy I'm most glad to see pitching well though is Damaso Marte. There were question marks on him coming into the season, and there still is regarding his velocity and his breaking balls to the left handers, but in late game situations in the 8th and 9th he's been really, really good which is more than you can say for last year.
