Jabroni
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/cs-05...ack=1&cset=trueReliever Chad Fox suffered an elbow injury after throwing a pitch to Jason LaRue during the ninth inning, and he left the mound holding his right arm. Early indications are that Fox, who was designated as the primary closer Sunday, will have to undergo elbow surgery and miss the rest of the season. CWSGuy406
Ouch -- that's rough. From the little I watched him this year, he was looking good, too. Looked like he had a real nice slider going...
Jabroni
He has a surgery every year. It is his thing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yep, and Dusty is getting ripped on the radio because of it. Dusty has used Fox for 3 games in a row and he used him tonight in a non-save situation. Dusty had Fox warming up for the save but the Cubs scored another run and didn't need him. Dusty decided to pitch him anyways. Fox threw 29 pitches and threw his arm out of the socket. They are reaming Dusty for overusing the injury-prone reliever. ptatc
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 25, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) Ouch -- that's rough. From the little I watched him this year, he was looking good, too. Looked like he had a real nice slider going... It's too bad. The slider will kill the elbow if not thrown properly. his mechanics with the slider is what makes it good but it is also what causes the elbow problems. DBAHO
Dusty's done it again. They'll run out of pitchers soon.
IlliniKrush
Time to rip on Dusty Baker yet again - Sunday: "You have to protect [Fox]," manager Dusty Baker said. "This guy's coming off two or three arm operations. He hardly pitched at all last year, so we have to protect him." Monday: Baker has Fox warm up in the 8th inning even though the Cubs have a 4 run lead. He then uses him in the 9th inning after the lead becomes 7. Yes, a 7 run lead and he throws the injury prone (and now closer) Fox out there on no days rest with a huge lead. Fox blows out his elbow, and is likely out for the year. He gone. And all cubs fans love Dusty cuz he's such a great manager, right. In Dusty we Trusty!
Soxbadger
Its pretty sad for Fox. He gets a huge chance, but unfortunately it came for a team with Dusty as the manager. Most managers would not put their injury prone closer in for mop up duty, but not Dusty Baker. Terrible use of pitchers, he should be fired. How can anyone have faith in him? ZoomSlowik
Quick question that's fantasy related: who closes now? Is it Hawkins again? I'm desperate for saves in one of my leagues. It'd be nice for me if someone else got a shot.

The Critic
Dusty the Pitcher Killer strikes again! I wonder if this pattern of injured Cub pitchers would scare free-agent pitchers away from them? Athletes are generally fairly superstitious, so I think this could have some effect.
Yoda
So whatever happened with the holy water that Dusty Baker once talked about with the media?
Steff
This is so sad.. Cubs brass need to tell Dusty to stop ruining their players.
Nokona
If you saw it, it was plainly visible that his arm was waaaaay behind his body. It was like his arm just never got through the zone and his hand was below his elbow. Very, very weird.
