Let's not become the Cubs

Yes, the umpires have sucked the last two games. However, I don't want to see the Sox start acting like the Cubs when it comes to umpires. Right now, I don't like Hawk blaming the umpires for blowing the last two games. There were dozens and dozens of plays that helped determine the outcome of both games that had nothing to do with the umpires. I just want to see our guys keep their composure when the situation becomes heated. Crede got screwed, but he had to know to keep his mouth quiet because of our lack of depth right now.

I'm dissapointed in Hawk too. I mean you have to point out the bad calls, but also go on to say that the Sox did plenty of things (which they could control) that cost them the game. From the defense, to the lack of executing and getting the job done with runners in scoring positon.

You can only handle what you ahve control over and the Sox did a poor job of that. Bad calls happen and in this case I don't argue, they were terrible calls, but at teh same time the team didn't do what it could and for that its their own damn fault. They need to learn from this, get back to Chicago, and make some improvements realizing they are still the best team in baseball (record wise).

Crede had his opportunity. Personally, I thought Duscherer K'd Crede on a two-team seam fastball grazing the outside edge of the plate.

What's disappointing about the alleged interference is the umpire made a call which is rarely enforced. All replays show Crede's arms well within the batters box. He should have been at first base. However, there remained one more pitch, and Crede popped it up.

This auro of losing in Oakland is remarkable. I feel as if this team, this series and those before, are caught in a 'Final Destination' series of events. One miscue/error snowballs and eventually leads to another unfortunate circumstance. It's as if everything perfectly aligns against our club on the West Coast.

I'm wondering what people's reactions would be if one of these games cost us a playoff series.  Just a thought.

I think about that with every loss. In some ways, yeah it's just one or two games, but if you find yourself saying that over and over, the games adds up.

Eh. If one of these games costs us the playoffs, then one of the games where Ozzie handles the bullpen badly costs us the same thing, and all of the games where we just played like crap costs us the same thing. I really doubt I'll be upset about it then (hell, I don't even know if I'm upset now -- I haven't been able to see these controversial calls).

This is so early it'll be forgotten anyway. Like Sammy's game-winning hit the day before the cork was discovered was forgotten by the time the wild card race came down to the wire...

I agree with the first post. The balk & the interference calls were bad calls.

I've seen the replay on the balk & it doesn't look like he stepped off the rubber & as you've pointed out Crede did not cross into the strike zone when he was hit.

But all of that in my opinion was overshadowed by 6+ errors on the White Sox part. Officially there were only 6 but there were at least 2 more: the Harris & Rowand plays. They went from error-free ball on Monday to error-prone ball the rest of the series. That's what cost them the battle.

Hawk didn't say much about it & he should have. Perhaps he doesn't want to be run out of town like Stone was when he started criticizing the Cubs.
