retro1983hat
After an unbelievable start and being on the road for a week. It's too bad these guys can't all take the day off to clear their heads and get healthy. Jeez everyone looks hurt. Insted a bunch of the players have to show up at the cold, wet Cell to film commercials. I know it was scheduled, but they probably just want to sleep in today. TV TIME: The Sox get a break with today's day off giving their walking wounded time to recuperate. But some players aren't happy they will be called in for extra duty today to film television commercials set to air later this season. Buehrle had a particularly grim assignment. The Sox were expected to get into Chicago around midnight, and he had to be at the ballpark at 8 a.m. today. He had only a vague idea of what he was expected to do but knew it had something to do with pitching and then being whisked away to a dreamlike setting, complete with an angel. Stay tuned. bjm676
As long as it's not Uribe, Ozuna or Iguchi. Then again, none of them speak English so they won't be doing commercials anytime soon.

greasywheels121
http://whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/ar...t=.jsp&c_id=cws White Sox relive season's big moments Lights go up at The Cell for commercial shoot By Kelly Leigh Thesier / MLB.com CHICAGO -- Seven players had a slightly different off-day experience on Thursday, when they shot commercials for the new White Sox slogan, "Win or Die Trying," at U.S. Cellular Field. Yes, acting is out of the norm for these stars of the diamond. But it was donning makeup for the cameras that threw most of the players for a loop. Freelance makeup artist Suzanne Ciba had the pleasure of prepping the players, and she laughed when asked if this was most players' first experience with the other end of a powder brush. "Yeah, you guessed right," Ciba said. "Some of them enjoyed it more than others." But the new ads' concept made all of them crack a smile. Each spot features the players reliving on-field moments from earlier this season, like an out-of-body experience. On Thursday afternoon, Paul Konerko's early-season home run off of Cleveland's Bob Wickman was being revisited. "I love them," said Brooks Boyer, vice president of marketing for the White Sox. "The challenge we put to the creative staff at Two x Four, the ad agency, is that we want them to be memorable and we want them to create a buzz. Also, we want people to know the players a little better." While some commercials with the new slogan are already running, this set of ads will be the first to use non-game footage. Featured in these new ads, which will run beginning May 15, are Konerko, Aaron Rowand, Mark Buehrle, Shingo Takatsu, Tadahito Iguchi, Jermaine Dye and Scott Podsednik. While Konerko is an old pro at shooting commercials -- he starred in an ESPN spot with Tim Hudson in 2003 -- he did not seem quite comfortable in front of the camera. He joked that the team might need some of the actors someday. "We might need some actors to come stand in for us," Konerko said. "We got some guys hurt in the last two games with some freak injuries, and we're a little low on healthy players. This day off has been good for us to let some guys heal." Rowand gets to revisit a near-death experience in one commercial. Watching Rowand run into the wall over and over probably didn't make any of the White Sox trainers breathe any easier. For Rowand, though, it was nothing out of the ordinary. "I've got plenty of practice running into the wall," Rowand kidded. "I'm going to guess it will only take one take." Podsednik had a little less taxing shoot than Rowand, as he and Dye played witnesses to Rowand's mishap. "I might have to go out there and steal the show," Podsednik said with a laugh. As Konkerko walked back to the locker room after recreating his home run, he was asked if his regular wardrobe would have an addition -- uniform, cleats, gloves -- and blush? "No, no makeup for the Detroit game," Konerko replied, laughing. "In fact, this makeup is coming off right now!"
