baggio202
in his last at bat with the bases loadedand one out carlos went up there on all three pitches swinging for the fences and got blown away swining 3 times by a guy that in 9 IP has given up 15 hits DJ said ..ok , you can take a shot with your first at bat at the long ball..but after that you have cut down on your swing , look to make contact and drive the ball into RF...he saod carlos had two pitches on the outer half and he tried to jerk them both... the pitcher could tell what carlos was doing too...he went outside when he wanted to get him out..and it was the only time we failed to get a runer home from 3rd.. i was ready to come in here tonight and give carlos props...in his first at bat he was patient and drew a walk...in his 2nd at bat he fought off good pitches and tried to drive a ball into RF and ended up grounding out 4-3...that was , imo , his best at bat of the night..his 3rd at bat he started chasing pitches again..but he fought off two real good pitcher's pitches before getting a hanger and not missing it..hitting a serious bomb...then came the fateful bases loaded at bat that really pissed off DJ...he forget everything he built on in the 1st 3 at bats and looked like a real busher..that grand slam he hit yesterday is going to do him more harm than good.. why cant carlos get it???...this is his 5th season and he is still acts like a rookie...he has 10 million dollar talent and a 10 cent brain
Soxplosion
Which DJ? Darrin or Dangelo? I thought it was Dangelo but Im not so sure. If it was Dangelo, he can grill him cuz hes been playing so well...
baggio202
it was darrin jackson in the booth...its not the first time he has gotten upset at carlos...one thing about DJ..when he played he was a guy that really understood the game and was willing to sacrifice personal stats for the good of the team...he was an excellent hit and run guy..bunter..defensive player..pretty much everything carlos isnt...i think thats why carlos gets on his nerves so much
Jim Fainter
Good report. Now, my question is whether or not the manager, hitting coach, or anybody gets in Carlos' face and tells him what he is doing wrong. It doesn't look like it.

Do you think Carlos doesn't already know that while he's on his way back to the dugout? He's a hell of a lot smarter than some of you give him credit for. He's a major league baseball player for a reason, and it's not luck.

He's a major league baseball player for a reason, and it's not luck. It's hard to know. He's making the same mistakes constantly. Swinging too hard, too often....trying to pull a pitch on the outer half of the plate....trying to pull a ball when you have a runner on second and no outs or 1 out....not going to RF enough. I'm sick of this s***...he's struggling like hell right now....so he should either not be playing, or he should be helping us in ways he can. Except for a few occassions, he is not helping us. clujer420
he's struggling like hell right now Ya know what... Lee -- .208, 2, 7, .288 OBP, .321 SLG Konerko -- .173, 2, 5, .279 OBP, .308 SLG Konerko is having just as bad a season as Lee so far. Lay off of Carlos unless you're going to point out all of PK's f***ups.
Soxfest
Lee is smart based on what , that he can hit a baseball SOMETIMES and not very often. DJ was right in this case Lee is a lazy ballplayer.
witesoxfan
Konerko is donig s***ty as well...and he's been even worse on defense(which has cost us atleast 1 game....if not more). However, we have not had these problems with Konerko before.....we'll wait and see if they work themself out, or what happens. We've had these exact same problems with Carlos before....which is a problem. If he is making the same mistake constantly.....don't you think it would be a problem? I haven't gotten to see how Paully looks up at the plate....but I know that he's changed his stance since the All-Star break last year....and he hasn't hit since the AS break last year. I'm thinking that home run derby messed him up real good. Hell....he looks like a friggin rookie up there. Maybe he just needs to be developed again....who the hell knows. Konerko looks awful up there. I've seen about 13 of the 16 games, and he looks pathetic so far. And "the HR derby ruined his swing" is a lame excuse. If he didn't think he could handle it, he shouldn't have done it. Besides, that was months ago -- maybe that excuse would work the series after the AS break, but 8 months later it's a flimsy cop-out. He needs to get his act together soon -- especially since he's hitting behind Jimenez, Valentin, Frank, and Magglio, all of whom have a very good OBP. He's only got 5 RBI this season -- he should have at least 12-15.

Both CLee and PK look s***ty up there....and seeing a little more of their backups wouldn't hurt.

Rowand is doing pitiful as well. However, we can live with him struggling -- he's at the bottom of the order. Konerko and Lee get TONS of opps with men on base, and so far have done nothing. That said....it's pretty nice that we're 10-6.

However you want to say it, we're on pace for 100 wins, and 3 of our 4 big hitters are hitting under .225. Not too shabby.
