DBAHO
I loved watching this guy in the 90's for the Brewers; Red Sox Pacific Rim scouting coordinator Jon Deeble, the Australian Olympic coach, talked with Dave Nilsson recently and said he thought the former Brewer would still have interest in playing "if something caught his fancy." Nilsson, 35, is a roving catching instructor in the Diamondbacks system, but he looked great playing at the Athens Olympics. Ideally, he could slide into a combination role with a contending club as a DH/first baseman and catch on occasion. Japan could be another attractive possibility, Deeble said. DonkeyKongerko
Why did he retire in the first place? I can't imagine no one wanted to sign him after what he showed in Milwaukee.
DBAHO
QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ May 1, 2005 -> 11:37 PM) Why did he retire in the first place? I can't imagine no one wanted to sign him after what he showed in Milwaukee. I think it was because he wanted to play in the Olympics but I could be wrong on that. Dick Allen
Didn't he attempt a comeback a couple of years ago in Spring Training, but quit again? No thanks on this guy. He hasn't played in the major leagues or anything close in years, and seems like his heart isn't into it.
