:crying The team's 19 and 7 and we're arguing about a long reliever who's era is under 4, it really doesn't get much better then that.

:notworthy

Politte does the job, paging quickman.

Here is the thing about Cotts, he has 7 walks in 7 innings. In his defense, he hasn't pitched much.

But he's supposed to do the job and the last thing you want is a guy to walk the only hitter he faces. 7 walks in 7 innings is too much.

Whether they do anything about it, who knows. The issue is, who do they have that's better? I don't think Walker is setting the world on fire in AAA.

Offense does nothing in that inning, the Sox are trying to hang on here.

New York Yankees designated hitter Jason Giambi left the game due to an injured head. .............

thats what you get for using roids

I bought the Hardball Times Bullpen book, and last year, they have Adkins at a WPA (Win Probability Added) of .024 per game, with Cotts at a worse .038. However, they also have Cotts pitching in higher pressure situations -- making the two about equal. Cotts has a better fastball, plus he's lefty. He gets the nod as the last guy in the 'pen, in my book.

Here's my thought on Neal, I really think when he pitches he should start his own inning. It seems it takes him a batter to really get his pitches down. If we need to get a lefty out during the later innings it should be Damaso or Luis not Neal. Neal is up here because every teams needs a long reliever and Neal's our guy. He's the 6th guy out of our pen and he's a pretty damn good one if you ask me.

Donn with an interesting and smart point.  He says that a lot of times, the tougher outs are in the seventh and eighth innings, not the ninth.  So, why not use your better relievers in those innings?

Which is one reason why I think the save stat is tremendously overrated.

The only I can figure is as a pitcher records more saves (even if he isn't a closer) he'll command more money because of that stupid stat.
