Anybody starting to worry about Konerko?

Recommended Posts

I don't know if anybody has really talked about this. But the last thing we need is another 2003 esque first half from Paulie, especially with Frank out. I've got to believe that at some point "I hope i'm wrong" that our pitching is gonna come back to earth a little bit. We're gonna need him to start hitting. Any thoughts?

I'm worried about him a bit right now cause his approach just sucks. The good thing is though nothing seems to by mechanically wrong with his swing, so if he is able to keep that left shoulder closed a bit more and serve the ball into right field he should be able to come out of it quickly, that being said, his mindset is all screwed up right now and Walker needs to have a talking with him.

If dead boy can snap out of his slump so can Kong. Just give him some time.

After he came out out that .173 for the season slump or w/e it was he was in during the summer of 2003 with that homer to tie it in the 9th with 2 outs against the Twins.....I've learned Paulie will turn it around no matter what.

I'm not worried.

Yeah, but he turned it around for a short time and then went back to funkville. I'm a bit concerned.

i guess we now have a new way for Everett and Thomas to both be on the field...... and Everett could still DH.......

j.k, no fielding for Frank this year.  not even in interleague.

I've trumpeted that point of view a few times by now. Frank's had two season ending injuries will playing 1B. Tell him to just take a seat and enjoy the interleague game till about the 8th inning.

Might be a good day to give Burke his first start of the year. After all, Konerko has played in EVERY game so far. Every player needs a day off, unless you're named Cal Ripken.

I look at it this way, he is streaky and if this is his big slump of '05, it couldn't come at a better time. We're winning and getting fat off of our division. Hopefully he'll turn it around just as the schedule gets tougher. J. Death is finally hitting, so is Rowand, throw in Frank and look out.

Gotta stay healthy though, BIG key.

I'd say I'm only a little worried.

Paulie has had his share of bad at bats in this 0 for 20-some-at bats streak he's got going, like the strikeout talked about above, but there have been a ton of balls that he has just hammered that have either fallen foul or ended up right at someone.

Remember that bases-loaded lined shot he hit a few days ago right down the leftfield line that somehow managed to end up right in the glove of the 3rd baseman for a double play? That's the way Paulie's luck has been.

I'll grant his timing is a little off - he's hitting a bundle of very hard foul balls down the left field line, but those are ending up foul by only a couple of feet.

I'd say he should make an effort to hit the ball more to right field; might keep him back on the ball just a little more. But either way...he's hitting the ball hard and having a bunch of bad luck, so I'm still fairly confident he'll snap out of it.
