A bat that plays what position and who goes away?

Yep, that's the problem...We all talk about adding a bat, but in reality who do we get rid of? Crede possibly but a Vinny Castilla type really isnt much of an upgrade at the moment. Dye has shown signs of breaking out. It seems as though we would have tons of holes with how bad the offense has been, but we really don't have a glaring hole like last year at the deadline or the year before that.

.......and remember we will also have a little decison to make once Frank comes back. So, yeah, I keep hearing a bat, but where? Too soon to tell, maybe it will keep the team even more motivated.

I'd get Wagner and LaTroy as bullpen guys. That's it. I would really love Wagner though. That means we could send down Cotts to stretch him out and let him get his control down. LaTroy is all mental right now. Move him out of Wrigleyville and have him setup just like he did in Minny and he'll be great once again. Makes it even easier as we have his former baterry-mate.

I'm all for trading for a Pittsburgh reliever, but the men I wan't is Mike Gonzalez.

Mike Gonzalez is one of my favorite pitchers in baseball. This lefty can crank the heat into the mid-90s and adds a tough slider. He's tough against both left-handed and right-handed hitters. He will be an elite set-up man some time down the road if not already. His '04 numbers were ridiculous.

He was off to a fast start in '05 by not allowing a run his first 5 IP but allowed 4 ER on 4 hits in two outings in the beginning of April. Since April 13th he has gone 7.2 innings without allowing a run and only giving up 3 hits while striking out 7 and walking 3.

You can never have too many good arms.

That said, I don't see us getting him because there's just too many teams in the hunt for a closer.

I would love to get Rob Mackowiak though, Mackowiak and Mesa for Harris, Cotts, Perez, and Borchard/Adkins, ahhh it's great to daydream on a Monday morning.

Daydream? My God, You are delussional! :D :bang

No way would I look at that kind of a trade. You don't give up that many talented players for one guy we probably don't need. It has to be a fit. :gosox1:

I like the bullpen except for Vizcaino and you have to hope he will get on track.

Exactly. I don't get the hugeeee fascination with Macowiack. With the way some Sox fans want him, you would think he was Vida Guerra. He's not that good of a player. In fact, he's an average player and a Timo for Rob M trade would be a lateral one.

I don't think Vida could hit her weight in the majors, she would definately be a defensive specialist.

You're insane if you think Pitts would trade Mesa for Borchy straight up!

Pitts is in no hurry to trade Mesa which means they can maximize his trade value near the deadline. The list of teams that will want Mesa then will be long.

I don't even think the Cub with their inflated payroll due to trading Sosa can wait that long.

If KW is serious about trading for Mesa it's going to cost someone in the pen (probably Cotts), plus Borchy, & another ml prospect. But I think they can & will get a better deal elsewhere.
