beck72
Carl's sore hamstring has him day to day. But if he can't go for a few days, it might make more sense to sit him so he can be healthy for later in the yr. Hopefully, this doesn't have anything to do with his injuries last yr. If it is, he should go on the DL. Why have him lost for the yr if the Sox can help it. With that in mind, i could see a Brian Anderson call up. Without Carl, the sox would need some power. Having Timo in the lineup, with Dye at DH, won't cut it. But having Anderson in RF or at DH, probably would. Then the Sox could see what they have in Anderson. Seeing how Gload is injured, this would have been a nice spot to get him some AB's at 1B and Pk at DH. But he's not ready.
southsider2k5
Is Anderson already on the 40 man roster? And we do still have an open spot right? I would wonder if we would want to call up Anderson and make it a 40 man roster, because if we did, that would mean we would have to waive someone else if we needed McCarthy up here. Seeing as Everett is day to day, my best guess is they will fill in with Perez and Ozuna as needed. If it were a longer term situation, they might make a roster move. Guest JimH
does anyone know when Gload is coming back? He could certainly DH. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's unknown and they have been fairly quiet about it. One thing that was mentioned in the papers was he's still having shoulder problems and is at least a week away.
beck72
QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ May 12, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) Obviously if we called up Anderson the outfield would look like this... LF-Pods, CF-Anderson, RF-AROW with Dye and Timo sharing time at the DH. I'm not sure it would that obvious. If Anderson couldn't play RF, then he could DH. The key is getting Anderson's bat in the lineup.

In the minors they do have a 7 day DL.

Dick Allen
If Everett has sore legs as a DH, forget about his poor defense, but how long could he possibly last playing the field when Thomas gets back?

Even with good legs, Everett wasn't going to see much time in the OF. Carl will DH and pinch hit a lot when Frank comes back. I'd much rather have Brian Anderson at 100% who can go full throttle than have Carl at 75%. Better to sit Carl so he can get better than aggravate his sore leg even more and be out longer

Guest JimH
Promote Brian Anderson!!!!!!! Lets see it fellas!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 0-4 with another strike out last nite, not indicting him, just sayin'. Also interesting to note that Borchard is on the 40 man, Anderson is not. Borchard is the only minor league OF on the 40 man. Again, just sayin'. nitetrain8601
No need to mess with a prospect who isn't ready yet. I don't see Brian Anderson being called up this year. We'd probably use Ozuna and Timo accordingly.

JUGGERNAUT
If they are healthy members of the White Sox org on Sep 1 when the roster expands to 40 Sweeney, Anderson, BMac, Burke are sure to be playing with the White Sox. But there are bigger issues here. Do you bring up Anderson & BMac early to get them big league experience? Yes it moves them closer to arbit years but isn't it a better situation to bring them up & get them experience on a winning club rather than start them fresh in a new year that could turn out to be a losing club? Particularly when it comes to Anderson, both Reed, & Miles have proven to be capable MLers. Better than capable. It's a testament to the strength of the White Sox ml system when it comes to position players. That increases the odds that Anderson will be able to outperform Dye in the 2nd half. As a vet Dye can veto any trade but I don't think he would. Of the two he's the more tradeable player because of his defensive skills in RF. He's got to know this with Anderson lighting it up in Charlotte. So either he really picks it up to where it's best to keep him or he's sure to expect to be traded. There are several teams that would take a chance on him in the NL.
aboz56
Sweeney won't be up this year when rosters expand my friend unless there is a major injury or we are out of contention. The guys that could be up are: Anderson, Lopez, Bajenaru and McCarthy. They're already going to have to put Anderson and McCarthy on the 40 man (if they are called up), they aren't going to put Sweeney on too. He doesn't even project to be on the MLB roster next year IMO. He'll be in Charlotte. I figure they'll pull Borchard from the 40 man at the end of the year if he's still producing at his current rate and put Anderson on. Then you'll see Reynoso replaced with B-Mac. Guest JimH
Remember they would first need to add guys to the 40 man in order to bring them up in September. In this instance, that applies to Anderson and Burke. The White Sox haven't been too keen about bringing a ton of extra guys in for September. Personally I'd expect any Sept. callup to already be on the 40 man before that. If there's a fairly long term injury in the OF, they'd call up Anderson if they feel he's the best option, meaning besides a trade of some sort. That whole arbitration clock thing is certainly an issue but the White Sox won't let that get in the way of winning games, especially if they're in the hunt as expected. Guest JimH
There are a couple of guys who coneivably could come off the 40 man if necessary. One name that jumps out is Matt Smith, the Charlotte reliever. Borchard ... I still think he'll get traded this summer to a lower level team in order to give him a clear shot. Kris Honel, Diaz ... both are guys who might be candidates for going off the 40 man.
