mreye
http://www.consumerfreedom.com/pressReleas...cfm/release/105 http://www.petakillsanimals.com/ Between 1998 and 2003, PETA put to death over 10,000 dogs, cats, and other creatures that the group publicly calls “companion animals.” Not counting those that PETA held only temporarily -- for spaying or neutering -- the group killed over 85 percent of the animals it took in during 2003. In 2003 the Norfolk SPCA found adoptive homes for 73 percent of its animals. The Virginia Beach SPCA adopted out 66 percent. PETA could only manage 14 percent. She supports them? Yuck! Show her this: http://www.petakillsanimals.com/news_detail.cfm?ID=2803 "Holocaust" was a traveling photo installation that compared livestock animals to Nazi death-camp victims. The exhibit's last panel, titled "The Final Indignity," juxtaposed a pile of dead Jews with a pile of dead pigs. Shameful. :headshake
mreye
And this: PETA has given tens of thousands of dollars to convicted arsonists and other violent criminals. This includes a 2001 donation of $1,500 to the North American Earth Liberation Front (ELF), an FBI-certified “domestic terrorist” group responsible for dozens of firebombs and death threats. During the 1990s, PETA paid $70,200 to an Animal Liberation Front (ALF) activist convicted of burning down a Michigan State University research laboratory. That's where her/your money goes. mreye
PETA president Ingrid Newkirk has said that “even if animal research resulted in a cure for AIDS, we would be against it.”
Soxy
I am all for treating animals ethical--but being against animal testing for drugs, genetics, etc is just irresponsible. Being the the psych department--I get comments from my students all the time about testing on animals (i.e. Animal testing = nazism). Obviously it's not pretty and should be done respectfully--but it's completely naive to think the advancements we make in medical and technology would happen without animal testing.... PETA seems to want people to think that the lab techs get a kick out of killing rats. It's not that way at all.

Soxy
Idiots... Now, I think we can all agree that I am as pinko commie liberal as they come--but these people need a very swift kick to the head.... Where I work none of the labs (even mine that only use human subjects) can have labels on the door--for fear of the animal labs falling victim to these idiots.
