Jermaine Dye

RF, White Sox

This might be the only mistake the white-hot Sox have made all year. Looking for a replacement for Ordonez, the Sox signed Dye to a two-year, $10.15 million deal. He's responded by hitting .190, walking only five times and just looking terrible. If he doesn't watch out, Ozzie Guillen will rip him, too.

Part of the Pull Baseball Duo. They should seriously put on one of those crazy shifts where they put 3 infielders to the left side of the field. Both he and Konerko would be hitting a collective .050 if that ever happened.

I'm shocked they even had a picture of Ordonez in his Tiger uniform available to be put up on their site....

He's had plenty of time to take pictures in a Tigers uniform, what with that season ending injury and all. Besides, now all it takes is a tiny bit of creativity combined with photoshop to put any player in any uniform.

Watching Dye bat makes me wonder how he ever produced those career years in 1999, 2000, and 2001.  How has he gotten so bad since then?

Knee breaking = hard to over come. He was lucky that he broke the part of his leg that he did because it could have been worse for his baseball career.

The more I think about it, Dye is exactly the type of player we were trying to get rid of. Incredibly streaky, right handed, dead pull hitter, tries to jack everything out of the park.

He's the right handed version of Valentin, either he's gonna k or hit a bomb. Guess which one he is gonna do a lot more of.

I think the Dye topic is already beaten to death, but his defensive play is more frustrating than his hitting to me.  It shows me that his offensive slump is carrying over into the field and giving the opposition extra bases, outs, and runs.

Me too, I guess I expected a gold glover out their, I probably shouldn't have. I'm sick to hearing about how bad Dye is though, but there's only 2 ways to turn that around. 1. Wait til Frank gets back and he won't be in the lineup everyday, I'll only hear about how bad he is half the time. Or 2. Dye heats up both hitting and defensively.
