BuehrleTheAce
Jon Garland became the first eight-game winner in the major leagues, and A.J. Pierzynski homered for the third straight game to lead the Chicago White Sox over the Texas Rangers 5-2 Tuesday night. Garland (8-0), the first White Sox pitcher to win his first eight starts since John Whitehead in 1935, gave up two runs and five hits in seven innings, striking out four and walking two. Relying on his sinker, he got Texas to hit into a pair of double plays. Now that's VERY select! Congrats again Jon! BuehrleTheAce
LOL Well I was actually trying to point out that it was a feat that hasn't been accomplished by a Sox pitcher in 70 years. Blame it on a poor choice of words.

How in the hell did his ERA stay at 3.72 that season? He was like the original Jose Contreras / El Duque. Texsox
keep it up Garland I expected a good season from Garland, 15 wins. Still, this run is amazing. I wonder if he grabbed Esteban's old locker

Jabroni
Mike and Mike quote... "and now it's time to talk about the kid that is turning the baseball world upside down..... Jon Garland". :rolly <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was predictable. Once Dontrelle lost, all the attention is now focused on the only 8-0 pitcher in the MLB. Had Dontrelle won last night, he would likely still be getting most of the publicity.

BuehrleTheAce
I knew Garland had a good shot of being the only 8-0 pitcher last night. I saw a stat about D-Train saying he was 0-2 vs. the Dodgers with an ERA over 15! They jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, but Dontrelle kept them off the board after that. Then Florida came back and scored 3 runs to make it a nailbiter. At worst he would've gotten an ND, but I much prefer the way it turned out

Yea, this stat is for most wins to start the season. JB was 7-0 until 5/26/00 when he got his first loss.
LosMediasBlancas
Is it just me, or does it look like Jon bulked up during the off season. With that thick neck, he looks 15 lbs. heavier and at 6 foot 5, a lot more intimidating on the hill.

greasywheels121
JG was on Cold Pizza at the end of the show. He didn't say a whole lot; those interviews are pretty light. He's just saying a big key to his success is that he focuses on the batters instead of the runners now. He wouldn't want to have to share a locker with A-Row, because he's kind of a slob. JG claims to be a neat freak. Also, they asked who would be the starter of the AL all star team, and he said whoever the manager chooses to start.
