Some British researchers have found that wearing red unis significantly increases men's probability of winning a close match/game/whatever, here's the article.

 

I think they're comparing it to blue, mostly, so it doesn't change my mind that black is the real asswhupping color. At least the Royals now know what the first change has to be.

Yes, and...

 

...I read that the uniform colors in the Olympics are randomly assigned, so it really does sound like causation.

Macnhester United, Arsenal and Liverpool all wear red. Quite an easy conclusion to make from that.

Which is exactly their question -- obviously it doesn't make you any better, so why do red teams win more often?

 

They they could have all the evidence in the world that red teams win more often, trillions of observations (other things equal), and you still wouldn't believe it? I find that hard to understand. I think I'll believe even the wackiest ideas, if you just pile up enough evidence beside them.

I don't think that's the claim.. I think it's the reaction to the color of the uniform.

As per the selection being random, I don't know. But I think for this to be totally valid they should do it across ALL Olympic sports, team/single/etc. Heck, maybe even go for non-Olympic Sports like professional ones over here.... Then I would be FAAAAAAAAAAR more willing to accept

That is very true--but man, that would be pretty much the sweetest experiment ever. But maybe at lower levels (semi-pro, college, high school) that would happen--if someone else footed the bill...

Juventus, Real Madrid, Rangers, they dont have Red in their uniform. My soccer posses red in their uniform, they are the best in my state but it doesnt mean s***. It is just coincidence!

Because it was a british researcher who did it. It would be the same thing if it was a American researcher, he would just pick his nation's important sports such as Baseball, Football, Hockey, Basketball, even softball and wouldnt consider soccer.

ummmm, I think color does have a reaction on people. In AZ there is a maximum security prision in which all the inmates wear pink outfits and underwear. The pink has been proven to be a calming color and emasculating for agressive personalities. Do you honestly think that if the sox wore pink, they would be taken as serious as all black?

I actually saw this article through a wrestling site, and who knows. It's not saying everyone who wears red will win, and everyone who wears blue will lose. Keep in mind, there are only two colors in the sports they chose, red and blue.
