Jabroni
Frank with a liner robbed by a great catch. The announcer said it would have been an easy double if not for the great catch. Edited May 18, 2005 by Jabroni

Jabroni
http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws Change of heart? After categorically stating over the weekend that he wouldn't play first base during the 2005 season, Frank Thomas told reporters in Ottawa Tuesday night that he would never say never. Thomas' thoughts might have changed slightly, upon realizing that his 20-day Minor-League rehab assignment ends the day before the White Sox embark on a six-game road trip to Colorado and San Diego, where there will be no designated hitter. While Guillen didn't completely rule out using Thomas at first during the week of June 6, it certainly wouldn't be a primary defensive option. "It don't think it would be the greatest, but if I had to do it, I would do it," Guillen said. "I would try to stay away from that." Guillen was extremely impressed by Thomas' two hits against the Lynx Tuesday. The effort especially stood out for the White Sox manager, with Thomas not having faced live pitching in almost one year. "That's Frank. This kid is born to hit," Guillen said. "He's always been a great hitter, to me one of the best I've ever seen when I was playing with him. But my concern is how he feels running the bases. I'm sure he's sore a little bit today."

ottawa_sox
Just got back from Frank's second game. He went 1 for 5, but just as easily could have been 3 for 5, if not for defensive gems. Brian Anderson would have had a slam if not for breaking his bat and having the ball die on the warning track. The guy sitting beside me asked Brian for his bat before he hit and Brian said 'sure, if I break it' - which he proceeded to do. I was sitting beside one happy camper. Anderson also crushed a ball in the first for an RBI, that the left fielder did not have to move for. The real story of the game was the great pitching of Stewart for 7 innings, then Fields for 1 and Baj for one. I moved from my front rooooowwwww seat when Baj was pitching to watch a radar gun. He topped out at 89 on this particular gun. Of more importance was the fact that the Lynx were lucky to get a foul off him. I hope to see the next 2 games as well. I think I figured out how to have a word with Frank (if he keeps the same routine tomorrow as today). I will try to find out how he rates his ankle. ottawa_sox
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 18, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) God damn! Any bigger of a sig??? :headshake I thought in the interest of expediency (and also I am too tired to shrink the pictures), I decided to simply post what my camera produced. If I go tomorrow and get some more decent shots, I'll try to play with them a bit before I post. Unless it's no big deal for 2 more days. Dam8610
QUOTE(Nokona @ May 18, 2005 -> 09:49 PM) This Thomas kid will never cut it in the bigs. A big time prospect going 1-5? Who is this guy really? Honestly, this kid is doing nothing but disappointing. So what if he has over 400 career HR, doesn't every big leaguer?

Glad you liked the pictures. Pretty sure I will be able to make it tomorrow. I was leaving myself a small out because of a son and a wife who have been under the weather. But my guess is that when push comes to shove, I'll be able to make it. So far I've been comparing Frank's arrival here to the Pope's. Despite the fact neither of us are religious, I think she has gotten the drift.
greg775
I hope it's not a full 20 game rehab if his ankle feels fine after a week. Why 20 games??

Just like earlier, I don't think they want to raise expectations too much. I'll know Frank's back when Ozzie puts him in the line up.
