Guest JimH
OK, took a short dinner break. Frank Thomas is up now, quickly down 0-2. Charlotte is losing 5-2, Person hit a guy and walked a couple more, he has walked 6. Thomas grounds hard to 3rd, nice play by the 3B. Thomas now 1-3. Two outs in the 6th, Brian Anderson up. Guest JimH
Charlotte has two hits total. Anderson strikes out, into the bottom of 6, Ottawa 5 Charlotte 2. Robert Person appears to be healthy but his control is off, especially high. He is missing high quite a bit. He's hitting the ball hard, and he's working the count. Those are the two things that are most important right now for Frank -- IMO.
Guest JimH
John Stephens has come on to relieve Robert Person, so Person went 5 innings. Stephens is an ex-Oriole, a righthander. Announcer commenting that Stephens is a quick worker. He gives up a base hit. Person went 5 innings, 5 hits, 6 walks, 1 K, all the runs were earned. Stephens throws a double play grounder 4-6-3. Guest JimH
Coming up this inning for Charlotte is Greg Norton, then Burke, than Borchard. Norton grounds to 1B. Jamie Burke grounds out. Borchard up, he has K'd and grounded to 2nd. Borchard K's on 4 pitches, last one a check swing. Edited May 19, 2005 by JimH
Guest JimH
I'll post a recap after this half inning. The announcer is talking about how nice it is in Ottawa ... he's right. Great city. There have been persistent rumors the Orioles will move the team out of there.
WHarris1
Jim do you know when BMac pitches next? Tomorrow?
Guest JimH
Yes they said BMac goes tomorrow nite in Buffalo vs. the Cleveland AAA team. Borchard makes a nice catch in RF. Into the top of the 8th, Ottawa leads Charlotte 5-2. Oops, no, BMAc goes tomorrow vs, Ottawa. Edited May 20, 2005 by JimH
Guest JimH
Frank should get another AB in this game. I have a conference call in 10 mins. but I should be able to post, especially if he's up in the 8th.
Guest JimH
Casanova, Coquilette, and Gutierrez up this inning, so unless Charlotte gets something going Frank will bat in the 9th.
Guest JimH
Casanova flies out, Coquilette just misses a HR and gets a 1 out double.
Guest JimH
Gutierrez with a good AB but he lines out to RF. Roosevelt Brown up, and Thomas up next if Brown can get on base.
Guest JimH
Brown out on a hard groundout, Thomas will bat in the 9th.
Guest JimH
Roosevelt Brown throws a guy out at home, into the 9th inning, 3-4-5 up for Charlotte, they are down 5-2.
Guest JimH
Frank Thomas drills a curve ball but right at the 3B, so he ends up 1-4.

ottawa_sox
QUOTE(JimH @ May 19, 2005 -> 07:46 PM) I'll post a recap after this half inning. The announcer is talking about how nice it is in Ottawa ... he's right. Great city. There have been persistent rumors the Orioles will move the team out of there. Ottawa is very clean. Lot's of parks and water. No industry and therefore virtually no pollution. I have a lake front cottage that is 30 minutes from downtown. The Gatineau hills are littered with small clean spring fed lakes that are a short distance from the heart of the city. That's why I dropped stakes here. The rock base is limestone, which counteracts acid rain effects. I pretty much live at the cottage in the summer. I get my fill of small mouth bass. I grew up in Toronto. Just try finding clean, affordable, close to home lakes in that city. The problem with Ottawa is the winter. Although it doesn't seem to get as cold as it used to, it still lasts too long. And there are persistent rumours about the Orioles moving the Lynx. Baseball doesn't seem to fly here that well. It's all about hockey. The best part about winter in Ottawa is skating on the Rideau Canal, n'est pas?
