Rotation Possibility

Rumor has it that Billy Beane is looking to trade Barry Zito, what do you guys think about the Sox adding him to the rotation? IMO I think adding another established lefty with nasty stuff would make the rotation even better than it is now. And not to mention the fact that Billy Beane loves making really stupid trades for his stud pitchers, I think KW should pounce on this opportunity. :gosox3:

wouldnt mind him for the right price. if it were say a mccarthy and a mid level prospect id do it, Zito is still a very good pitcher IMO. Sure hes been s***ty the last 2 seasons, but before that he was what, a Cy Young Winner with liek 25 wins? hes only like 25, 26 and a left, id love to have him

Good thing you aren't running the ball club. BMac and a prospect for Zito? Please. I'd ask for Zito and a prospect FOR BMac.

Very insiteful, anoyone else have an opinion?

I'll pass, Zito is no longer the pitcher he was 2 years ago and beyond. Last year he was mediocre and this year he's proving that last year wasn't a fluke year. He's not bad, but he's not going to put the Sox over the top.

A bat like Huff or Chavez...now that could possibly do it.

Since the Sox are looking to win now, and rightfully so with the best record in baseball right now, they should really entertain the possibility of acquiring Zito and bolstering their rotation even more.

I don't know, man. The numbers don't lie. He has had 3 quality starts in 9 tries this year. His ERA just flat out sucks, and his home stadium is a pitching paradise.

Take a look at these splits:

Home/Road

He has given up 26 runs in 28 innings on the road.

That is a good point but I still think he is worth getting if the Sox can manage to get him w/o giving up BMac or Brian Anderson

Ok so who goes out of the rotation? Why didn't Beane deal him instead of Mulder or Hudson in the off-season? How many walks has Zito given up this season? You know that's definitely going to endear him to Ozzie.

I dont want to jinx it but its only a matter of time before the Count or Duque goes down, he didnt trade him because Beane kept the youngest of the Big Three. Zito has walked 21 and struck out 34.

So in one trade for one of his Aces Billy got two pitching prospects, and Juan Cruz

and in the other he got one pitching prospect, a lights out reliever, and a stud minor league hitter (who's currently sucking this year)

but we can get Zito without giving up either of our two best prospects?

You're crazy.

He got Danny Haren who is 1-5 with a 5.32 ERA, Joe Blanton who is 0-4 with a 5.08 ERA, Kiko Calero is 2-0 with a 8.68 ERA, and Kirk Saarloos who is 1-2 with a 4.79 ERA. Beane's master plan is failing right now.
