bjm676
This is significant, since the Sox play the Halos 7 times in the next two weeks. Hope he's okay though. He's one of my favorite players. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb LOS ANGELES -- Right fielder Vladimir Guerrero left the Angels' Friday Interleague contest against the Dodgers in the fifth inning after a slide into home plate. The Angels' preliminary medical diagnosis was that Guerrero had a jammed left shoulder, and the team planned to have X-rays taken. The 2004 American League MVP suffered the injury trying to score from first on Steve Finley's two-out double, but he was narrowly thrown out. Because of the close nature of the play, Guerrero slid wide around Dodgers catcher Jason Phillips and stuck out his left hand to touch the plate as he slid past the plate. Television replays showed that Guerrero's left arm or shoulder did not make contact with either Phillips or plate umpire Paul Emmel, but Guerrero was moving at full speed and hit the dirt fairly hard, particularly on his left side of his body. Guerrero lay on the ground for a few moments as trainers attended to him. On his way back to the Angels dugout, he bent down at the waist several times. He was grimacing, and holding and pulling down on his left wrist. The Angels entered Friday night's contest already without the services of franchise all-time hit leader Garret Anderson, who's out with a hamstring injury. Juan Rivera replaced Guerrero in right field to start the bottom of the fifth inning. Guerrero is batting .303 with seven homers and 24 RBIs in 41 games this season and has been on the disabled list four times in his 10 Major League seasons, but only once since 1997.
