From the Senate hearing on Oil for Food. He's got a good damn point. And oh yeah -- The Senate report found that US oil purchases accounted for 52% of the kickbacks paid to the regime in return for sales of cheap oil - more than the rest of the world put together.

"The United States was not only aware of Iraqi oil sales which violated UN sanctions and provided the bulk of the illicit money Saddam Hussein obtained from circumventing UN sanctions," the report said. "On occasion, the United States actually facilitated the illicit oil sales."

If Paul Wellstone didnt die, I am pretty sure he would of won

now, I have this clown 'representing' me in the Senate :( . I have never liked him

I never realized that Wellstone was a Socialist, until I got conned into sitting into a meeting of the Democratic Socialists of American. They talked about this guy like he was a demigod. You talk about a group that is left of left of left. Basically the government should pay for everything for everyone always. These people were certifiably off of their rockers. Jan Shakcowsky(sp) is another one.

I will say this for Wellstone, he was a man of conscience and elections be damned, he did what he thought was right in the Senate.

Thats why I liked him. I didnt agree with a lot of his issues.

Now Norm. He used to be a Democrat when he was mayor of St. Paul. Then he switched to the Republicans. I forgot the reason why. He was asked on 'Real Time with Bill Mahere' why, and he didnt answer the question

which seems to be a common occurance for him. He gives you the party line answer. Real vague. The reason the Republican party like him is because he can raise a boatload of money real quick like. And he is from a 'blue state'

I saw Galloway. He is a fierce debater, a veteran of the British Parliament where they regularly have real live debates with real live debaters. You could not help be impressed with his performance. He made his accusers look weak and small. He was direct, articulate and defiant. Why the big surprise? Like I said, in Britain they are far more skilled in the art of debate than the arrogant, pea brained, blow dried assholes we have in both houses of our Congress. However a little investigation is in order. Galloway has a past and quite a bit of baggage to go with him. Hey, if you're left oriented he's your guy. Our man George is still lamenting the fall of the old Soviet Empire. You think we have left leaning politicians in the good old USA? Galloway and company make Dennis Kucinich look like Eisenhower Republicans. Yes, George Galloway won that round of the debate in convincing fashion. It must have given Bush haters everywhere cause for joy. Maybe a couple of 9-11 style attacks and it will be Partaaaayyyyyy. After all, it's been a while. Jolly good show old chap. Ooops, I shouldn't have said that Galloway is from Scotland. That was a fine show Laddddie. He's still an asshole. You don't even have to turn over any rocks, just a little basic investigation will do.

I agree--both about Wellstone and Coleman.

Coleman is notoriously an ass (or, at least was, when I lived in MN). Not to mention his rude behavior during the Wellstone funeral (yawning, checking his watch, staring at members of the congregation--a friend of mine that's higher in the MN DFL sat a few seats down and was appalled). Very slippery and slimey guy. Although, rumor had it he was hand picked to run against Wellstone. Despite his very leftist leanings--I think that Wellstone was a genuine, kind, and hard working man. And, oddly enough, honest too. I had the pleasure to meet him and Sheila a couple of times and was always blown away by their humanness. Minnesota lost two great citizens upon their deaths.....

I'm not saying that he doesn't have baggage. I'm just saying that he owned the Hell out of Coleman and the pro-war Bushistas quite hardcore. Attacking the messenger doesn't make the message and the facts of his discussion any less valid.

I also enjoy the British debates. I look for strong leaders of character in the Senate, party affiliation is usually secondary. I would love seeing a 50-50 split always. The Congress, less so.

I am a bit taken back that anyone would think that Dems would Partaaaayyyyy at a 9-11 attack. In fact I am appalled that anyone would even think of that. If anyone should be looking in the mirror, it is you. :headshake
