NUKE_CLEVELAND
Give the kid his props. He went out there with all kinds of pressure on him against the ace of the Flubbs staff and he matched him pitch for pitch. It really sucks that Oz didn't let him finish the inning and it REALLY sucks that f***ing Viz screwed him over by throwing a meatball like that. knightni
Why did they take him out mid 6th? Was his pitch count up?
WHarris1
Shoulda been allowed to finish the inning and get the W. But no we dont give a f*** if we sweep, we are satisfied with series wins.

qwerty
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 22, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) His pitch count was 78. I can't understand why Oz did that. Ramirez hit him hard twice. Big f***ing deal. If pitchers start hettign taken out after getting hit hard twice by the same batter in a game, some pitchers wouldn't last five innings. bjm676
His true test will be Friday against Texas. They gave him some trouble in Spring Training. They have some true mashers. Too bad f***ing Viz-Koch-ino ruined his chance for first ML win.
southsider2k5
Brandon was matching Prior pitch for pitch. You can't say much more.
hi8is
ozzie took him out because he had givin up 2 very long fly balls to rameriz up to that point in the game rameriz had a carrer mark of 2 for 13 against vizicano we had a 1 run lead with a runner on... ozzie was going by the numbers and trying to protect the lead... he might have even been trying to protect BMAC's confidance. IMO ozzie shouldnt have let vizciano pitch after he got that second out... he should have brought in cotts to face patterson.... but hey, im sure ozzie is starting to learn that vizciano needs to be used in a diffrent fassion... heres hoping at least. 3E8
Any reason why he wasn't throwing change ups? I thought it may have been part of a strategic plan by him to only break them out on the third time through the lineup. But I never saw them. soxfan420
Very solid i would not mind keeping him up here and moving someone to the pen from our rotation, its hard to decide who though el duke(keep him fresh for the playoff run, and playoffs) or cont(no real reason why), or garcia(again no real reason why) or maybe keep bmac in thep ne. knightni
Contreras has got to be the guy who gets moved. He is the most erratic as a SP, but has the best fastball. He'd be a great setup man.
Yoda
Spectacular performance by McCarthy... too bad Vizcaino threw a f***ing beach ball right at the heart of the plate, otherwise Bmac would have his first W of his career.
Chisoxfn
QUOTE(3E8 @ May 22, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) Any reason why he wasn't throwing change ups? I thought it may have been part of a strategic plan by him to only break them out on the third time through the lineup. But I never saw them. I was waiting for that too, the 3rd time around but wasn't seeing any. Thats why in teh back of my head I had him pretty much pencilled in for 7 after he got Burnitz out (little did I know Ozzie was going rush out there and pull him with Ramirez at the plate). He has pitched very well this year, that is not how you reward someone. If we moved him to the bullpen i can only see it back firing . farmteam
Alright, I just got back from the game. It was awesome. BMac looked pretty good out there, there were a few instances where he was getting behind hitters. I knew he was lanky but MAN, it's almost comical in first person. He had a nice fastball, good curveball (it once it hit 63 MPH) and decent-to-good change. There was something in his arm that was like an extra flick or something, it was hard to tell. Also, I bought a program and scorecard (and this was the only time I've actually scored the whole game) since it was McCarthy's debut.
