Can everyone at least agree that it should be a combination of Walker, Timo, and Vizcaino?

No, cause you shouldn't lose Viz for nothing and he has no options left. Viz shouldn't be moved down. If they are going to do something with Viz they better trade him. His season thus far has been nothing like he has pitched for most of his career. Although I guess when you look at his stats a bit more closely he only had 2 good years, last year and than in 2002.

But the Sox have the best record in baseball, a month from now, than it may be time to move Viz and add a new reliever.

There is no one else.  When Duque comes off the DL, Brandon will be back in Charlotte.  Only reason that wouldn't be the case is if Brandon is able to get 5 or 6 starts while Duque is on the DL and just kicks ass in those starts.

However, if thats the case this team may look a little different anyway due to a trade.

Bmac looked good today. It's one game. But if he continues I don't see how that can hurt us. How can you send him down if he is major-league ready right now?

I understand your point, but how long are we supposed to wait for him to figure it out? It's been two months, and he's still garbage. Maybe we should somehow see how Baj will do before we decide on Viz. If Bajenaru sucks and Viz gets better, we keep him. If Bajenaru sucks and so does Viz, we package Viz for someone else. If Bajenaru does well, we do whatever we can with Viz.

No matter what, we have to start looking at alternatives. I don't see any signs of him putting it back together.

He is not getting paid anything compared to hernandez and contreras and he has options left.

It took us a year and a half to figure out Koch is garbage :ph34r:

That's what Kenny and Ozzie have to decide. I know ozzie absolutely loves Brandon and if he dominates texas like he owned the cubs today it's going to be very hard to send him back down. It's an outstanding problem to have though, there isn't another team out there who has 6 great starters to work with.

Bmac is something special. Why throw him back down to charlotte if he continues to prove himself. His stuff was filthy today.

We are in a division race. Don't we want our best 25 out there?

If you could figure out someone that could could down and it makes sense, sure. But you will not be able to. We already need to send two players down for gload and thomas ( walker and timo?). No one else will be sent down by the sox. I could possibly see cottsgetting sent down in favor of mccarthy. For one cotts cannot get lefties out and vizcaino can. For two cotts is supposedly our long reliever yet he never pitches in long relief. I think mccarthy is better suited for long relief ( which is apparently situations that the game is close according to ozzie) than cotts is at this point in time.

It is too easy to sit back on our laurels. (ie. 31 wins this early)

Change CAN be good as well.

BMAC could be the 2003 version of Dontrelle Willis.

They had a large whole in their rotation unlike us ( at this point anyway). Burnett only made four starts for them that year and someone had to fill in for him and he was lucky enough to get the call up. I mean he only had four starts in double a.

Edit: six starts in double a.

I must say, I'm starting to like the idea of McCarthy being in the 'pen for this year... If he's better than Vizcaino, then there's no reason to keep him in Charlotte.

Yes, It's an odd numbered Year. One-pitch Viz sucks.

And the Twins win... The relievers that they used today...

ERA

2.76

1.96

1.02

1.20

We can't match that. They won the game today for the Twinks. If ozzies going to manage like he's got a lights out pen, he shouldn't be handing the ball to guys with ERA's over half-a-dozen

Hermanson = 0.00

Marte = 2.16

Politte = 2.04

In my estimation they have 1 more effective reliever in their pen than we do.

Although I do agree with you that you dont hand the ball to Viz or Cotts in a close game and those were the 2 that were warming.

Half of Ozzies pen is lights out. The other half is suspect at best.

He's gotta watch who gets the ball in a close game and if we're gonna be close all the time then these 3 that aren't that effective better grab their nuts or pack their bags.

I know, this pen excites nearly everyone but me.
