AddisonStSox
Per ESPN Radio 1000's Mac, Jurko, and Harry: Whispers of a deal surrounding Joe Crede and Brandon McCarthy for Eric Chavez have been revisited. Perhaps this has actually picked up a little steam as Kenny may or may not have been in contact with A's GM Billy "I can do anything with three twenty-game winners" Beane. I think you underestimate just how good Chavez is...
RockRaines
No thanks, you can keep him now, I want Brandon to stay, he is the man. Although, I would give up Honel or Tracy and Crede, but that would be with fair trades off.
Reddy
chavez is actually one of the best 3B in the game. period. he's young, he's got tons of homer potential and he's a proven player. crede sucks and bmac... though i dont want him gone at ALL... is still widely unproven. Im not saying do this deal, but Chavez is a hell of a ballplayer.

Rowand44
Chavez is an absolute stud and I'd love to have him. That being said I don't want to give up Bmac.
Rowand44
QUOTE(qwerty @ May 24, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Honel = nothing. I am sure they would like him. Honel is a non prospect at this point.

I love Chavez, but I want to keep BMac, especially with Fields in the minors. An ace and a suitable 3Bman >>> a decent starter and an elite 3Bman

GoodAsGould
I think this team needs B-Mac more than it needs Chavez.... Contreras and El Duque can go down at anytime and really although its more unlikely so can Buehrle, Garland, and Garcia... B-Mac is our insurance that incase that does happen we have him there... I would trade Sweeney or Anderson and crede and Tracey for Chavez though really only guys i think we have that are untradable... B-Mac, One of Anderson/Sweeney, and Gio Gonzalez.... everyone else can be had if the price is right.
JDsDirtySox
Put me down for Definitely wanting this deal to happen (though I know it never will). To get Eric Chavez would be amazing. I am a huge Joe Crede fan (unlike most of you), and I am excited by the thoughts of BMac in the rotation... but to add a guy like Chavez would be top notch. A Left Handed Heart of the Order Hitter who is the best defensive 3rd baseman in the AL. Bring On This Trade!!! I know its never gonna happen. KevHead0881
If Bmac is an ace in the making: don't do it. If Bmac is a #3 starter in the making: do it. Yah, I know. I kinda oversimplified the whole thing. But still...
RockRaines
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 24, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) Fair trades off of course hahahaa, I figured someone would miss that, I should have put it in bold. I would like an elite 3b, but BMAC is for real, he was brilliant against the cubs and I see a rotation staple for a few years, not to mention the assload of talent coming right behind him. I think if we are going to trade one position, we are the deepest in the OF, which would mean getting rid of one of my fav players in our system, which would suck. I personally think Crede is underrated and underappreciated by us, he is a good fielder, makes some plays look easy so we dont realize how good he is. As far as a hitter, he is hitting 8th, and he is fine for me in that spot, compare him to other hitters in the same place in order and I bet he may have more power and better fielding. jasonxctf
are we talking about eric chavez and his .213 batting average? How is he an upgrade over the cheaper, better hitting, better fielding Joe Crede? On top of that, Brandon McCarthy our 6th starter.
jasonxctf
furthere info.. chavez's 2004 fielding % .968. Crede .965.

How is he an upgrade over the cheaper, better hitting, better fielding Joe Crede? On top of that, Brandon McCarthy our 6th starter. What are the chances of Chavez batting .213 the rest of the year. Plus, when Crede wins a gold glove, you can make the "better fielding" argument. Until then, that statement makes no sense.
bjm676
Might be just fluff. Who knows. What happens if one of our starters goes down again? Who do we rely on next? Adkins? Diaz? Munoz? :puke This is just talk. I don't think BMac's going anywhere.

Dick Allen
BMac is under Sox control for 6 years. The only way KW would make this trade is if Oakland picked up most of Chavez's contract, and even then he probably doesn't do it. You don't trade away cheap stud pitchers. This deal will not happen. Agreed, but sometimes people do to make a push. But im not sure we need that push. I could see him getting rid of one of the position players, Young, Owens, but none of the untouchables.
