Why is it that you can call out Kenny Williams on his moves, which have led to the best record in baseball by the way, but if we call you out on your horrible offseason wants like Orlando Cabrera and Russ Ortiz you just change the subject?

 

More than likely, "your team" would not have been as good as Kenny's current team. Get over yourself.

Mike ... I will say the entire management team deserves props - up to this point - because most of here know it takes several people to put together a baseball team (with one notable and annoying exception).

 

Emphasis "up to this point". Like you, I like the way the team is built. There's depth and they will not be afraid to enhance the depth if necessary.

 

I also agree with you that El Duque's presence is a plus for the other pitchers, particularly Contreras. El Duque is a pro's pro. Of all the high priced pitchers the Yankees had, he's the one they really relied on in the postseason. That says a lot.

Actually, I've changed my mind on the entire thing. I say we hire Anthrax to be the GM, spend a ton of money on overrated players, get laughed out of every major league office with rediculous trade proposals, watch all our good players leave cause they realize what a dumb prick we have for a GM, and watch our team turn into the New York Mets.

 

Yah, to hell with KW and his 33-14 team!

There is a difference.

 

For starters, I was for bringing in Wright...but for between like 5-7 mill, somewhere in that territory. I wanted him to be our #3 starter. I was wrong, and am not afraid to admit it. Kenny of course did make the right moves, with his worst move being bringing in Jermaine Dye, who many thought was actually a steal at the time of the signing, and it may end up being a steal if he can turn it on, which I do doubt.

 

You wanted Cabrera, essentially annointing him the second coming, when it has been proven over and over that he is not good. You have not backed off of these initial statements of him being one of the best SS's in the majors, when he is average at the very best. Cerb has even showed you his magnificent stats this year, yet you continue to mention how awesome he is. Admit that he is getting paid millions more than he should, and move on.

 

And IIRC, Wright got $21 mill over 3 years, with the possibility of the 3rd year being voided if he has shoulder injuries. Russ Ortiz got 4 years, $33 mill, or just over $8 mill a year, with no chance of voiding the deal at any time. So basically, it is 2 years and about $14 mill VS 4 years and $33 mill. Which is the better deal, REGARDLESS of stats?

JG will most likely get a long - term deal worked out. Jose Contreras and Orlando Hernandez locked up until 2006. But I guess since we're not handing out Mike Hampton style contracts to the likes of Russ Ortiz, it's just not good enough right?
