More than likely, "your team" would not have been as good as Kenny's current team. Get over yourself. Edited May 26, 2005 by Jabroni

Your Right My 9.15 ERA and landing on the DL again made so much more sense. Personally I think Orlando Hernandez will put up much better numbers than either of those ass-clowns. Guest JimH
with Roberts being my 1st to play SS. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Brian Roberts? Of the Orioles? The same Brian Roberts who the Orioles wanted to keep, and did? The same Brian Roberts with a whopping total of 53 career apperances at SS? The same Brian Roberts whom the Orioles moved to 2B because he doesn't have the arm for SS? That Brian Roberts? Oh. Sorry for saying you're into Clueless Plus territory ... you sailed right past that and went into Super Clueless, dimebag.

Doing absolutely nothing would have been better than signing those guys. Bringing in El Duque was a master stroke. And, though, Contreras has been the least consistent of our starting five, Contreras has been much improved over last year. And, it seems obvious that El Duque has played a role in that improvement. I know that I sound like a KW ass-kisser but we are 33 and 14. Kenny deserves major props.

I will say the entire management team deserves props - up to this point - because most of here know it takes several people to put together a baseball team (with one notable and annoying exception). Emphasis "up to this point". Like you, I like the way the team is built. There's depth and they will not be afraid to enhance the depth if necessary. I also agree with you that El Duque's presence is a plus for the other pitchers, particularly Contreras. El Duque is a pro's pro. Of all the high priced pitchers the Yankees had, he's the one they really relied on in the postseason. That says a lot.

KevHead0881
Actually, I've changed my mind on the entire thing. I say we hire Anthrax to be the GM, spend a ton of money on overrated players, get laughed out of every major league office with rediculous trade proposals, watch all our good players leave cause they realize what a dumb prick we have for a GM, and watch our team turn into the New York Mets. Yah, to hell with KW and his 33-14 team! Edited May 27, 2005 by KevHead0881
witesoxfan
QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ May 26, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) Better than a 9.19 ERA and on the DL. There is a difference. For starters, I was for bringing in Wright...but for between like 5-7 mill, somewhere in that territory. I wanted him to be our #3 starter. I was wrong, and am not afraid to admit it. Kenny of course did make the right moves, with his worst move being bringing in Jermaine Dye, who many thought was actually a steal at the time of the signing, and it may end up being a steal if he can turn it on, which I do doubt. You wanted Cabrera, essentially annointing him the second coming, when it has been proven over and over that he is not good. You have not backed off of these initial statements of him being one of the best SS's in the majors, when he is average at the very best. Cerb has even showed you his magnificent stats this year, yet you continue to mention how awesome he is. Admit that he is getting paid millions more than he should, and move on. And IIRC, Wright got $21 mill over 3 years, with the possibility of the 3rd year being voided if he has shoulder injuries. Russ Ortiz got 4 years, $33 mill, or just over $8 mill a year, with no chance of voiding the deal at any time. So basically, it is 2 years and about $14 mill VS 4 years and $33 mill. Which is the better deal, REGARDLESS of stats?

DBAHO
1) How many games has Juan Uribe played at 3rd? 2) How could we afford Cabrera if Uribe was going to replace Joe Crede, and you still want us to get Gooch? 3) Russ Ortiz is signed for 1 more year and will make an extra $12 million. 4) Who can we get from Atlanta to be our next GM? It's not like there's a Paul DePodesta or J.P Riccardi waiting in the wings to take over there. 5) Orlando Cabrera - .229/.296/.347 all for $32 million over 4 years. Since he's turning it around, splits in May; .196/.281/.255 6) The man he replaced; David Eckstein - .299/.368/.390 all for $10.2 million over 3 years. 7) Would you still take Orlando Hernandez with his "DL Stints and all" over Russ Ortiz for a less $25 million over 2 less years? 8) Who said that Jaret Wright was "GREAT" 9) So KW was "forced" to hire Ozzie. You think he may have quit if he wasn't able to do his job to its fullest capabilities? 10) JR is never going to ink a pitcher long - term. Mark Buerhle is locked up until 2007 with an option for 2008 IIRC. Freddy Garcia locked up until 2007. JG will most likely get a long - term deal worked out. Jose Contreras and Orlando Hernandez locked up until 2006. But I guess since we're not handing out Mike Hampton style contracts to the likes of Russ Ortiz, it's just not good enough right? 11) What do you think of Matt Clement now compared to 4-6 months ago? 12) You called for a pitching first team. Well if Russ Ortiz and co. were in our rotation, you think we would have still won 33 games this season? 13) Would you rather win 13 straight divisional titles like Atlanta, or 2 world series like the Florida Marlins? 14) You think KW would still go for the long ball approach even without Ozzie, with what has happened over the past 4 seasons? Watch the Minnesota Twins, that's what he did. 15) When Gio comes up (most likely 2007,2008), yes MB will still be here. He has a 9.5 million option for 2008 IIRC. 16) If you don't like 2nd place finishes, how do you think the fans of the Kansas City Royals feel? The Detroit Tigers? Remind me to bump all of these threads at the end of the season.
