sayitaintso
per rotoworld Bobby Jenks - S - CWS Bobby Jenks struck out five of the six batters he faced to earn his 12th save for Double-A Birmingham yesterday. He gave up one hit. Jenks has a 2.31 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 23 1/3 IP as Birmingham's closer. He's probably not going to a factor in Chicago this year, but he's becoming a very good relief prospect. May. 27 - 2:28 pm et

He was only considered one of the best arms in the Angels system, if not the whole league. I really think we have our set-up man of 2006 lined up. Shingo, you're plane is boarding. Gene Honda Civic
Jenks has struck out 10 in his last 3 games -- 3.2 IP, 10 K.
Guest JimH
The good-scary part about this is Jenks is likely just now getting healthy and rounding into form.

CWSGuy406
BHam (Tom), when you see this thread -- have you talked to Jenks yourself? If so (or if you've talked to someone like the manager), how's Jenks' attitude/mentality? I'm not sure if you'd know this, but are they keeping (somewhat) tabs on him to make sure he keeps himself out of trouble? I commend Williams on a job well done this offseason as far as some minor league pickups. Jenks and Owens have been awesome.

I have talked with Rich Dotson the pitching coach and Bobby is greatful that the sox's have given him this chance and now that he has been cut now knows he can take nothing for granted he is actually very soft spoken and is working on his weight problem lost 15 pounds since joining the sox's and is at the park working with Dotson and conditioning coach Joe Geck. That's fantastic to hear. If he can just keep his head on straight we might have a stud closer down in the system ready to go next year, that'd be something....... I commend Williams on a job well done this offseason as far as some minor league pickups. Jenks and Owens have been awesome. I'm not Tom, but from what I hear and I know Tom and some others have mentioned it as well....Razor Shines and the rest of the staff has really done an outstanding job getting Jenks under control and working with him. At the same time Jenks is doing a good job in trying to be a changed man. The Sox took a gamble on Jenks and if it pays off, it could pay off really well. I'm talking about a guy who has the ability to be one of the best closers ever. Think a Gagne like effect. He isn't quite as electric as Hernandez, but pre-injury he was as close (stuff wise, but has always lacked polish). Jenks has a shot at fitting in with the club later this year as a callup at the very least and I have no doubt (barring injury or mental blowup) that he'll get some action next year as well. beck72
If this is his first crack at the closer role [which I think it is] it's amazing how well he's taken to it. Jenks [and the sox] may have found a key man for their bullpen for next yr, if not a late call up this yr
Nokona
Was Jenks on the sauce or did he like the candy? Was the weight gain because of withdrawal or something like that?
