sox4lifeinPA
Dear Chicago, You'll never guess. You know the girl you said I'd meet someday? Well, I've got something to confess. She picked me up on Friday. Asked me if she reminded me of you. I just laughed and lit a cigarette, Said "that's impossible to do." My life's gotten simple since. And it fluctuates so much. Happy and sad and back again. I'm not crying out to much. Think about you all the time. It's strange and hard to deal. Think about you lying there. And those blankets lie so still. Nothing breathes here in the cold. Nothing moves or even smiles. I've been thinking some of suicide. But there's bars out here for miles. Sorry about the every kiss. Every kiss you wasted (bad / back) I think the thing you said was true, I'm going to die alone and sad. The wind's feeling real these days. Yeah, baby, it hurt's me some. Never thought I'd feel so blue. New York City, you're almost gone. I think that I've fallen out of love, I think I've fallen out of love . . . with you. Texsox
My daddy was a cop On the East Side of Chicago Back in the USA Back in the bad old days. In the heat of a summer night In the land of the Dollar Bill When the town of Chicago died And they talk about it still When a man named Al Capone Tried to make that town his own And he called his gang to war With the forces of the law Chorus: I heard my momma cry I heard to pray the night Chicago died Brother what a night the people saw Brother what a fight the people saw Yes indeed. And the sound of the battle rang Through the streets of the old East Side Till the last of the hoodlum gang Had surrendered up or died. There was shouting in the street And the sound of running feet And I asked someone who said "About one hundred cops were dead." Chorus: And then there was no sound at all But the clock upon the wall Tick tock, tick tock And then the door burst open wide And my daddy stepped inside And he kissed my momma's face And he brushed her tears away. Chorus:
Texsox
For real Take me back to Chicago Lay my soul to rest Where my life was free and easy Remember me at my best. Take me back to Chicago Where music was all I had I tried to be good as I could And sometimes that made me sad. Take me back to Chicago, to Chicago Why don't you take me back Take me back, take me back To Chicago. I still dream of the Lake of peacefulness The warm summer breeze 'Cause my life was so much simpler then Street corners and Tastee Freeze. Take me back to Chicago 'Cause hustlin's not my style LA was just a bit too hard I wish I could be a child Livin' back in Chicago, in Chicago Why don't you take me back Take me back, take me back To Chicago. Take me back to Chicago Lay my soul to rest Where my life was free and easy Remember me at my best. Take me back to Chicago 'Cause hustlin's not my style LA was just a bit too hard I wish I could be a child. Livin' back in Chicago, in Chicago Why don't you take me back Take me back, take me back To Chicago. Take me back, take me back....

LosMediasBlancas
I was flying into Chicago at night Watching the lake turn the sky into blue-green smoke The sun was setting to the left of the plane And the cabin was filled with an unearthly glow In 27-D I was behind the wing Watching landscape roll out Like credits on a screen The earth looked like it was lit from within Like a poorly assembled electrical ball as we moved Out of the farmlands into the grid The plan of the city was all that you saw And all of these people sitting totally still As the ground raced beneath them thirty thousand feet down It took an hour, maybe a day But once I really listened, the noise Just went away .....Liz Phair. Guest JimH
Now for something really interesting, how about favorite Chicago beers? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> New: 1. Two Bros. Ebel Weiss (ok, it's made in Warrenville) 2. Goose Island IPA Old: 1. Old Chicago (made at the old Meister Brau brewery @ North/Sheffield) Other than brewpub beers there really aren't many being made in Chicago.
