Question 13

Category: Which Movie?

Point Value: 54

In which movie was the following quote spoken by Robert Preston?

"...One fine night, they leave the pool hall, heading for the dance at the armory. Libertine men, and scarlet women, and ragtime! Shameless music that will grab your son, your daughter in the arms of a jungle animal instinct - mass hysteria! Friends, the idle brain is the devil's playground..."

And the answer is The Beatles. The Stones are just behind by 3, so they get 26 points.

FlaSoxx, deserting your favorite band doesn't help :)

Here are the stats.

The new category, 10QTN, shows the record over the last 10 questions given.

There have also been some slight accounting glitches... these are cleared up with the new leaderboard.

I thought of Sputnik right after I emailed you.

Don't I get partial credit for giving the first US communications satellite?

I was thinking of it... but it was only worth 11 points. A couple more points and I would have given you partial. However, your answer was more complicated... sounds like me... I'd give you points but it wouldn't be fair to everyone else. Sorry.

Carbon Monoxide comes out of the car tailpipe.

There is a big difference between Carbon Dioxide and Carbon Monoxide.

I know there's a big difference, but it's just a prefix.

And some carbon monoxide comes from burning fuel, but CO2 is mainly produced.

Here's the chemistry:

CxHx(l) + air(g) = CO2(g) + H2O(g) + N2(g) + O2(g)

ONLY IF combustion is incomplete (I.E. at a temperature

CxHx(l) + air(g) = CO2(g) + H2O(g) + N2(g) + O2(g) + CO(g)
