JDsDirtySox
I feel bad for the kid. From Rotoworld: Mariners optioned catcher Miguel Olivo to Triple-A Tacoma. Olivo had been 3-for-26 since his big game two weeks ago, and manager Mike Hargrove expressed concern that his troubles at the plate were beginning to distract him from his catching. If you ask us, hitting coach Don Baylor and the rest of the coaching staff have to take some of blame for getting so little out of Olivo, the shortstops and Adrian Beltre. Raul Ibanez is the team's only regular with a higher OPS than his career mark and he's still down from last year. Olivo will probably be back within a month or so. Pat Borders will get the majority of the playing time now and Wiki Gonzalez could return to split time with him next week

aboz56
Reed went 3 for 5 with 4 rbi's last night including his 2nd homer of the year. He now sits at .270, 2 hr, 18 RBI, but his OPS is just slightly over .700.
Jabroni
Reed looks good but I still laugh when I remember how pissed people were when we traded Olivo. He can't hit and he can't call a game. He has a good arm but that's about it. Edited May 31, 2005 by Jabroni

I was a lot more pissed about Reed, but I got over it somewhat once we got Pods then got over it once I saw how Pods has changed the game for this team. Even though they aren't the same player at all, I was alright losing Reed after we got Pods.

Still miss him though even though he did suck. Good luck to him. You saw flashes of brilliance with him...but they were few and far between. I had the same feelings for him as you....He's just like 90% of the catchers out there....sub .250 BA...no power...average defense

Also his demeaner, just the way he looked on the field it was hard to dislike the guy. Plus the way he came and left with the White Sox im sure had something to do with it. Homered vs Pettite in first AB and homered vs the scrubs in last, will always remember that.

And from what I remember, he couldn't control that rocket at all. He'd have a guy thrown out by a mile, except the ball was in centerfield. Seesox
I miss Reed too but we have a very good SP now from it and we also are stacked with OFers down in the minors so I think it was what needed to be done.. Um...yeah...so Kenny traded for Podsednik. If anyone was "signed" to fill the Reed void, it was Dye. And anywho...with both Anderson and Sweeney on their way up...and ARow here for quite a long time before he hits the FA market, trading an outfielder for pitching seems like a smart decision for me. I'll hand this one to KW - I was wrong and he was right. Especially since he signed A.J.
SnB
I was upset with what we had to give up but knew it was worth it to get freddy. I actually wanted miggy to stay more than reed to tell you the truth. Oops
Rowand44
I feel bad for Miguel, he just can't lay off the down and away breaking ball from righties. I hope he can get it together, I really hope he succeeds.
LDF
getting a sp was the key, esp a quality pitcher as freddy is. i was one of those who didn't like the trade, not b/c of miguel but b/c we were giving up reed. at the time i thought we got fleeced in the trade. however seeing how freddy being doing, i might as well a give props to kw for this one. only if miguel doesn't pan out.
