Why dont we use B Mac as a Long Releaver pitcher

:banghead

When you have a young talent that is as good as he is, it's usually better to let him get experience at a lower level than to have him rotting away on the bench in a higher level. Then, when he does come up to the higher level, he won't ride the bench, he'll start and do better because of the experience he was allowed to get.

the main reason is because our starting pitching has been so consistent there hasnt been much need for a long relief man... for example cotts was apposed to be our long relief man and b4 ozzie started putting him in clutch situations he was getting barely any work at all.

i think we could win more games with him. I think he could be a great relever and i dont think he would be rotting away in are bullpen. He would be helping our team win games. Poor managing giveing him up.

Are those guys responsible for putting leaves on fake plants?

Sorry for the lame joke...

Seriously though, McCarthy is a STARTER, putting him in long relief is not the best thing IMO for a potentially spectacular SP. He needs to continue to get his work in AAA and if the Sox need a relief pitcher I have confidence that KW will go out and do whats best for the club.

As others have said on this thread, McCarthy is a starter, not a reliever. Starters need to throw every fifth day and throw a lot of innings so that hopefully, when they come up, they'll be able to eat up innings and not allow the opponents to do much in the process. As a ML middle reliever, he'd be called upon sporadically to pitch anywhere from 1/3 of an inning to 3+ innings, which will not help him in any way to gain the experience he needs to start. He needs to get back down to AAA and get as much experience as a starter as he can rather than wasting away as a reliever in the bullpen.

I'm generalizing here-- it could be different from what i've observed, but I've noticed the rehasing of old topics is common among members who've been here for awhile, don't post often, and usually browse just as infrequently. Who knows, perhaps they're impatient and unwilling to search for similar threads.

Nothing against anyone who may do this. This honestly doesn't bother me. But you were looking for an explanation, and I provide answers for fellow chatroom members. :drink

The thing is a lot of the people who are rehashing old topics are not members who have been here for a while, just about all of these repeat/useless threads are being started by people who have joined in 2005. It's not a big deal but it is a trend that should be brought to light IMHO.
