Guest JimH
Charlotte won 3-2, Josh Fields with the win in relief and Bajenaru with the save. W-S lost 6-0, Frazer Dizard with the loss. Boxes aren't available on minorleaguebaseball.com as I type this. Dan, are you having the same trouble accessing the boxes as I am? I go to BA, click on scoreboard, and then try to click the box score link on the game line score. I get an error message from minorleaguebaseball.com and worse, I can't hit "back" and get back to BA. It always seems like in the morning, I can access them just fine. Edited June 1, 2005 by JimH

Guest JimH
OF Clint King appears to finally be doing something, he had two more hits tonite and has raised his average to .250. He was in the very low .200's for quite a while. He was a rather high draft pick, it'd be nice if he made progress. Gratuitous Robert Person mention ... as Dan stated, a nice start for him tonite. 4 hits in 6 innings pitched with 5 K's and only 2 walks. He looks to be getting in shape and could be decent depth for the White Sox. Edited June 1, 2005 by JimH
Palehosefan
I've always thought Clint would hit better than he has with us. He was part of a bash brothers in college and had around 18 homers his last 2 years I believe(going off of memory). Nice to see him possibly coming around. The link for the box worked through the league scoreboard as opposed to the team page, so I'm guessing sometimes they have bad links at spots. Chisoxfn
Ya, King was like the NCAA HR leader when the Sox drafted him in like the 3rd round or so. Problem is he has had trouble staying healthy ever since his rookie year in the system. Last year it was the hammate if I recall.

Capn12
Just wanted to add one little bit in here as I was reading the boxscores. Borchard now has 65 K's in 169 ABs...thats Rob Deer-like numbers. Not that I'm telling most of you guys anything you don't already know, but I think Uncle JR paid Borch $5+ million to never see the light of day in the MLBs. LOL...I'm glad this message board doesnt make the roster moves for our farm system...were moving guys up so fast it makes my head spin. But it definitely looked like a flat out dominant start for Gio!! I really hope he stays down there till the end of July when Im goin to three Kanny games...I wanted to get to see him!! Gio had several very successful starts in Kannapolis last year. Combined with instructional league and his start to this season, what possible reason do you have not to move him up? Personally, I think they wait until the draft is over and they sign a few college-type players who will be starting at Kanny before they move Gio and probably Liotta up to W-S and possibly a couple of the guys from W-S to BHam. The draft (about 1-2 weeks after, usually) is when a lot of guys start getting readjusted.

Roster spots will have to be opened on the Kannapolis roster for some of the college talent drafted... I just find it funny that everytime a guy has a good start the promotion talk begins. Gio is on a fast track, but he is out of high school. Usually its a 3 year minimum for H.S. pitchers in the minor leagues. So I guess I was out of line...but it really wasnt directed at the Gio comment's as much as just the promotion talk as a whole.

Yes people want him to be moved up but it isnt like he is moving up to AA or AAA or the majors... its just the step from Low A to High A.... I think with how he has totally dominated Low A he could handle that step pretty well. Hell B-Mac did better at High A than Low A last year.
