A few days ago I mentioned that I thought Walker would be demoted and Everett would be placed on the DL to make room for Thomas, Duque, and Gload. Now I think I've changed my tune. I'm now thinking more along the lines of Takatsu being sent down to AAA where he can pitch consistently (he needs to because if the Sox can get him back and pitching sharp he'll be a huge asset). Than I don't know what the Sox do in regards to Timo or Everett (maybe going to the DL) or Timo being cut or demoted or if it will be Walker (Sox would be ousting a few too many bullpen guys though). Heck, I could even see Baj somehow fitting into these ramifications although it appears Ozzie stands firm in calling up guys he played a lot in spring training and Baj didn't pitch in many A games during spring. With everyone except Marte and Viz pitching lights out in front of him, he won't see any action up here for awile, as Ozzie seems to have lost confidence in him--understandably. qwerty Posted June 1, 2005 Share Posted June 1, 2005 Can someone please tell me walker's purpose on this team? It has now been three weeks time and he has throw 2 and two thirds of an inning. I know he has a nice shiny 0.00 era but in the very limited times he has pitched he was not good. I know not everyone agrees with me that the other 425,000 he got for getting called up was either a lot of money or a big deal but everything counts. On a sidenote, I wouldn't keep Walker, I'd demote both him and Shingo and promote Baj (give him a few weeks, see what he can do...if it pans out than you may not have the issue of having to trade for someone). Texsox Posted June 1, 2005 Share Posted June 1, 2005 I am just happy we have options. Some of this is just mouse sweat stuff, really no big deal. Timo or Willie isn't going to impact a single game. Either one could be a villian or hero on any given day. The starters are going to win or lose the division. Takatsu is a different story. Bouncing around AAA may not be his dream of seeing America. Molto Posted June 1, 2005 Share Posted June 1, 2005 I would have to agree with the whole idea of placing Everett on the DL, but because Thomas has just made his way back and may still get hurt again, I don't see that happening before Monday (interleague). Hernandez will likely be pitching this weekend against the Indians. I would move Garland's start up to Friday, seeing that he struggled his last start and should go back to a four-days rest, and have Hernandez pitch Saturday between Garland and Buehrle. You have Hernandez replace Walker and then bring up Gload Monday and place Everett on the DL. When Everett gets back, you drop Timo. I'm not so sure about demoting Takatsu. If they were though, I'd prefer to see Adkins again, but since for some strange reason he's starting down in AAA (he's starting down there, right?) that won't happen. We are going to need a fresh arm coming into the end of this month, especially while we are playing in national league parks and we cant use the DH.
