Okay, so we've seen all the "Get Player X" threads over the past month or so, which is starting to make me wonder what everyone thinks we need most to be a better baseball team. So, what do we need? Maybe we're just fine the way we are?

If Shingo and Vizcaino can turn it around, the team is fine as it is. Otherwise, a reliever is desperately needed.

I agree. Even though I would love to have another lefty who can throw multiple innings when needed. I think we need another bat. I'm so glad Kenny is our gm. You know he's gonna make atleast one impact move.

Solid RP. A good team can shoulder guys struggling in the lineup at times.

As long as you have a good balance of hot hitters to offset the cold ones you can keep scoring runs. But bad RP can cost you wins & pile up your losses.

Assessing our RP, we have two solid guys in Hermy & Politte, then two fair guys in Marte & Cotts, but everything after that is shaky at best.

I still hold out hope that Marte will figure it out & have a solid year, but I will feel much better with one more solid guy in that pen. We can overcome all other weaknesses but that one's the toughest.

He still has his apologists, that's the scary part.

I can remember clear as crystal the day he was hired and I said that it was a mistake because of his mouth and lack of experience..

How about a new manager?

i'd like to see a GOOD hitter, power or not, added. i'd also like to see a GOOD reliever, be it lefty or righty, added as well. i can live with marte and clifford in the 7th and 8th and dusty bottoms in the 9th. but it wouldn't hurt just to have another solid arm for the middle innings.

AND, i'd like to see us send ozzie guillen and future considerations to the mariners for mike hargrove and a cup of starbucks coffee.

For decades, managers have been abused for their use of relief pitchers. No less than managers like Earl Weaver and Tony LaRussa have been crucified by critics for their use of relief pitchers.

I remember when LaRussa was managing us it was so bad before he was fired that us so-called fans would boo everytime he stepped out of the dugout. I think history bares out that us so-called fans were morons with regard to our judgment of LaRussa.

We would hardly be White Sox fans if we didn't fear the walls caving in.

A lifetime of frustration is sure building up in about one week's time, or so it seems. I'm not defending anyone, but these boards are depressing lately, despite the record.

This team has plenty of talent at all positions. Even players who have been as poor as Viz have the capability to do big things. The thing we need is for our current players to start playing up to their potential and stop half stepping it out there. There are about a half dozen guys who aren't getting it done out there and that needs to change.

I'm no "apologist" for Ozzie. Ninety percent of the time when someone on here b****es about a move Ozzie makes, I roll my eyes because those that b**** are more concerned with a single tree than with the whole forest. Ozzie cannot bring in Dustin Hermanson every time there is a threat to to a particular game. He cannot play the 9 best hitters every day. That kind of thinking is exactly what caused the downfall of the 1969 Cubs. Durocher played the same guys day after day and in mid-August they ran out of gas.
