I think the Sox should do everything in their power to hire an experienced bench coach to help guide Ozzie.. like ohhh say Tony Pena maybe...or someone like that...

You mean Harold isn't cutting it for ya??

I swear I don't know what that guy does. Ozzie does need someone to help him with 'baseball' decisions, but his ego would never let that happen.

Watching Harold is like watching that movie Weekend at Bernies, it looks like they have to move him around and make him look animated...

Its long been known that Harold isnt exactly a vocal person...how he ever was chosen for a postion like bench coach is beyond me.

He doesnt say anything, maybe thats what Ozzie wants out of his bench coach.

I'd love to upgrade at 3B, since that's really the only position we don't have an established (read: veteran who has played well at sometime in his career), but even then, Crede has had a great stretch to end a season.

You can never have enough pitching, so I would vote for any kind of pitcher, reliver: lefty or righty, or even a starter, and then move someone the the pen.

Offensive deficiencies are obvious. but we have some key players who are underperforming their career averages.

The recent losses seem to be situations where either the bullpen has blown it or Ozzie has left the starters in too long (not pitch count-wise but rather after it was apparent that they just didn't have it that day).

3 yr #'s for pitches 1-15:

El Duque 112AB, 11R, .277A, .319O, .402S

Contrera 140AB, 42R, .271A, .346O, .429S

Garland 381AB, 81R, .281A, .329O, .410S

Freddy & Mark are obviously not options.

Of the 3 I would go with El Duque first for RP duties.

Garland is all but light's out in his first 15 pitches this year but how do you move an 8-2 starter to the pen? El Duque is a bend but don't break type pitcher & that's perfect for the pen. As a RP in the past 3 yrs (6IP) he was never scored upon. So he's gotten in done for the NYY's in the past in that role.

I'm no "apologist" for Ozzie.  Ninety percent of the time when someone on here b****es about a move Ozzie makes, I roll my eyes because those that b**** are more concerned with a single tree than with the whole forest.  Ozzie cannot bring in Dustin Hermanson every time there is a threat to to a particular game.  He cannot play the 9 best hitters every day.  That kind of thinking is exactly what caused the downfall of the 1969 Cubs.  Durocher played the same guys day after day and in mid-August they ran out of gas.

There's a difference between getting a guy a day off every now and then and trotting out the garbage Sunday lineup and throwing a game away. He's got to find some middle ground between the Durocher scenario you mentioned and the Sunday Lineup.

Look at that power bat at 3B vote total. I guess WSox fans don't buy into Ozzie ball as much as he'd like them to.

I think a solid RH RP (to replace the dissapointments that are Viz, & Shingo) is the greatest need. You can PH at times for Crede but you can't avoid Viz or Shingo's turn to pitch.

I love this post and feel the same way. Big picture. They aren't trying to throw games away, it's Guillens's philosophy to try and give guys 2 days off in a row. We can argue about that if the board wants, but lots of managers do that. They sit a guy who's been playing a lot for one game when there's an off day the next day. It's not unusual.

People were squawking he is burning out the bullpen, seems to me he is trying hard to keep the bullpen fresh. I am no apologist either but I see what he's trying to do, even though I don't agree with it all the time.

Bingo. There's too many people here who cannot look past their nose (today's game).

Ozzie will not make the right decisions - that much is obvious. But to piss and whine and moan isn't going to change it, is it?

I'll go with a new manager. I feel the walls will eventually cave in with that guy. Again, he would make a good 3B coach or maybe even a bench coach, because he's a great motivator and a guy who players like, but he says way too much s*** to the media and his decisions lack common sense half the time. Like at the beginning of the year when we weren't getting sweeps, I said and will continue to say, it seems like he'll use that 3rd game for experimenting. Well experimenting should be used when you have clinched a playoff spot.
