Palehosefan
Thats a tough break, no pun intended. Jackie Manual also broke his foot today unfortunately at the camp.
kev211
Hopefully this keeps him from going to the nba and he will come back to the illini. I think if he stayed for another season he might become a first round pick.
SleepyWhiteSox
Wasn't he crying that weber wasn't vouching for him for the NBA?
whitesox91403
What kind of shape is that going to put him in for Illinois though this coming season?
Chisoxrd5
QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 02:09 AM) What kind of shape is that going to put him in for Illinois though this coming season? Well better than it would be than with him in a NBA uniform on..with Dee were a top 20 team without him probably 30-40 I cant imagine a broken foot could sideline him into next years college season
SnB
QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 08:17 AM) Well better than it would be than with him in a NBA uniform on..with Dee were a top 20 team without him probably 30-40 I cant imagine a broken foot could sideline him into next years college season exactly. tough break, but if this puts him in an illini jersey for next year, not a tough break for us. aboz56
He had no business even entering the draft to begin with. Hell, there's 20 or 30 guys who declare who have no business declaring. Come back next season and he'll be battling it out with Brown and Ager for Big Ten POY.
southsider2k5
Lucky for the Illini. Brown was really starting to slip, especially when he started questioning Weber's helping him for the draft.

IlliniKrush
Finally we catch a break, no pun intended. He had no business going into the draft, but he seemed VERY content with going in the very late 2nd round and getting any money out of it. Now we'll have to monitor the weber/dee relationship after the latest developments.
aboz56
Illinois would be foolish to not want back its best player. I can't imagine a scenario where a NBA team takes a fringe prospect, which is what Brown is, with a broken foot. Whatever the relationship between Weber and Brown, my guess is they work things out and Brown comes back as one of the favorites for Big 10 POY. IlliniKrush
Aboz i wasn't suggesting that they wouldn't take him back or something - i just don't want there to be bad chemistry between those 2 going into next year. It took Weber a lot of time to get Dee to buy into him and his system...we don't need any more problems. This is totally Dee's team next year, too. If there is animosity there, it could spell problems. We especially don't need this yapping through the media.
whitesoxfan99
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) Finally we catch a break, no pun intended. He had no business going into the draft, but he seemed VERY content with going in the very late 2nd round and getting any money out of it. Now we'll have to monitor the weber/dee relationship after the latest developments. I wanted Dee back, but not like this. I was hoping he would either go pro and end up in the first round or realize that he was unlikely to be drafted early and pull out. As for the Dee/Weber relationship, I think they will be fine. Dee seems to be very sensitive and Weber is extremely honest which leads to problems at times. Weber called Dee out when he first got here about Dee's lack of a mid range game and inconsistent shooting and Dee got all upset about that as well. In a lot of ways, Dee and Weber are very much alike with their personalities in that they are both honest and emotional with their comments. Weber completely supported Deron's decision to go pro so its not like he is against guys going pro early. And while he may not have been 100% behind Dee very few coaches would have been. I cannot recall many cases where coaches have been 100% behind their players leaving early if they were not a first round draft choice. Hell, Coach K was bashing William Avery for leaving early and Avery was a lock for the first round.

Buehrle>Wood
Theres going to be a lot of time open at the SG position. Rich, Brock, and Jamar will be rotating there along with Chester getting in every once in awhile at the point. Augie and Arnold are as good as locks for the 4/5 positions. And Randle should hold on to the 3 spot. I believe we start off our season with Wichita State, so we won't get time to try and get experience for the younglings. BTW, Looks like Rush will be offically going pro for anyone who cares.
