"Chocolate Thunder" Darryl Dawkins

Ooooo...I totally forgot about "Chocolate Thunder." That's gotta be the best, although I believe he coined that nickname himself, so points off.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage

His real name is Randy Poffo. Attended Downers Grove North high school, set state records in baseball and was drafted shortly there after. In 1971, as a junior catcher, he batted .500 at Downers Grove North High School, then hit .521 as a senior. And upon graduation, he was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals organization as a switch-hitting catcher.

Upon graduating high school, he earned a professional baseball contract and spent minor league stints as a catcher in the St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, and Chicago White Sox organizations during the early 1970’s. Despite once placing among his league’s leaders in home runs and runs batted in, he never made it to the big leagues; and in November 1973, at just 175 pounds, Randy Poffo made his pro wrestling debut against Paul Christy.

I believe he was third in AAA in hr's when he finally moved to wrestling. Oh, and want a tale of toughness, one of his career derailing injuries was a torn rotator cuff, so he switched hands and taught himself to be left-handed and made it to AA with the sox as a firstbaseman before being released.
